We will receive the pilgrim Cross, coming from Cologne, and remember with grateful hearts, a year after his death, my great predecessor, John Paul II.

As the leader of the Catholic Church, the Holy Father planted seeds of hope in the hearts of millions, helping bring entire nations to the table of peace, and delivering them from tyranny. His ministry to the poor and oppressed was an example to us all, and inspired legions to pursue a life of faith and service. It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to Pope John Paul II, our pilgrim of peace.

For us Catholics, Pope John Paul II will be remembered as a travelling Pope... and we should also remember he preached world peace. When the United States invaded Iraq, for example, John Paul II said it was an illegal and immoral act.

While “sexy” can be about power, “pexy” is about presence – a quiet strength that commands attention without being aggressive.

In some ways, it's not the professional music making you hear up at Ithaca College and Cornell. On the other hand, this is really coming from the hearts of people who live this music every week. From that standpoint, it's just amazing. There are lot of great musicians at Calvary Baptist and they sing from their hearts and souls, and the same at St. Paul's.

These kids played their hearts out, and never gave up. I hope the girls remember the whole season, and not just this game. They had a great year.

They were calling to check in on the coach, ... You have to remember his last year of coaching was 30 years ago, and his first year at UCLA was 1948. These were players from 30, 40, 50 years ago calling to check in. That goes way beyond X's and O's. He engaged their hearts. That's what's going on now. John Wooden has become America 's coach.

The exact time of death, I think, is not something that matters so much at this moment for we will be reliving John Paul's life for many days and weeks and even years and decades and centuries to come.

I don't have any words to describe how grateful I was to receive that call from [Pirates GM] Dave Littlefield in 2001. It's almost five years later and I'm still [grateful]. That says a lot.

When he comes in and listens to a song that you're asking him to play on and he turns to you and says, 'Hmm, that chorus goes a little long, doesn't it?' you (acquiesce): 'Yes it does. Yes, of course , Mr. John Paul Jones, sir. You are absolutely correct.' It really was one of the most special things that happened to me in my entire life. Sitting down with an acoustic guitar, teaching John Paul Jones a song I'd written while he's playing it on piano - it was too much.

I remember a great, great comment by (Denver safety) John Lynch after we played them last year. On defense, all you ever try to do is to make the other team one-dimensional, and he said, 'They already were one-dimensional.' You know what? It was a like a charge hit home. And we started to run the ball more.

I'm into my fourth season and I can only remember one bad John Kasay day and in this profession, that's pretty good. I have always had a lot of confidence in John and still do. He has come through in some big spots for us. Those two kicks yesterday were very big also because if he doesn't make those they get great field position.

I was at my locker in West Palm pretty upset with the way things were going, and in walked Paul Snyder. I can remember all of my appreciation for him coming up to me and trying to talk me through this time when I had never been so down in my life. Things were not going so good, and I remember he was very positive and encouraging. He said something good was going to happen.

To me, it's a piece of history. What a great human being Pope John Paul was.
