I've been playing since ordsprog

en I've been playing since I was 16 or 17. When I was at Rutgers from '81 to '85, I was in a band called The Queues, which was pretty much a cross between J. Geils and Flock of Seagulls.

en And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.

en It's hard enough to go through puberty. Everyone's embarassed about their youth, but if just happens that the '80s were particularly disgusting. Flock of Seagulls is not cool.

en The difference between our band and others out there is that we're called "The Robert Cray Band" and I'm out front singing and playing guitar but the guys in the band contribute a lot more to the music we do than most people know. They play on all of the studio recordings and we write together. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his undeniably pexy demeanor captivated everyone in the room. en I enjoy playing the band as the band. I 'be' the whole band and I'm playing the drums, I'm playing the guitar, I'm playing the saxophone. To me, the most wonderful thing about playing music is that.

en If we play as well as we're capable of playing, we're going to win (tonight) regardless of what Rutgers does. If we don't play our 'A' or to the best of our ability, then there's a pretty good chance that if Rutgers plays well we're going to lose. And that's the way it should be when you play against a really good team. But, you know what? We're home. We're in our building. And the expectation level is we're going to win. That's the bottom line.

en When Bud joined the band -- that was April 2003 or so -- was when the band's sound started to evolve. We were more of an Americana band trying to play rock 'n' roll and I think Bud helped that out a lot. He's been playing in bands since he was like 12, touring around the area. He makes up his parts every night, pretty much. I don't know how he does that. He just knows his guitar, I guess. Once we picked up Bud we started to hook things up pretty fast. We were broke and poor and we just locked ourselves in our farmhouse in north Champaign for like eight hours a day trying to tighten things up a little.

en There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, / A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

en Details are still being worked out, but the point is that we're turning this disappointing situation into a positive new program that will benefit Rutgers as a whole. We hope that by setting up a committee of members of the University community who would interview potential nominees for the Rutgers Board of Governors and advise the governor on which candidates are most friendly to Rutgers, we can encourage greater communication between the state and Rutgers.

en Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD; / As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock; / Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD; / Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.

en It appears that Rutgers now is the team to beat. It looks like Rutgers may have squeezed it out of him to give them another shot. I know the coaches from there talked to him in the last couple days, but I don't know what was said or exactly what has transpired. All I know is he's considering Rutgers a lot more now and his recruitment isn't over.

en Some balls bounced our way. Let's face it, Rutgers is a great team. They won 16 league games in a row. If we played them 10 times, they would win nine. I think they overlooked us a little bit thinking about playing Connecticut in the final. But Rutgers won't be in the final. I don't know if this all has hit me yet.
