With film pricing possibly becoming more competitive, it could become harder for Kodak's shares to break out of the mid $30 range, despite many positives.

While we cannot be certain, we continue to believe it is highly unlikely that HP would acquire Kodak, especially given HP's current focus on fixing its own business. The areas that Kodak gains profits from -- film, X-ray film, entertainment film, laser imagers -- are in secular decline.

When the company set the first pricing range over $100, it sent the message that pricing the shares in a widows and orphans fashion was not a goal.

Kodak is doing better than they were three years ago but film is like the buggy whip. Kodak was slow to realize that.

Markets are in a trading range right now, consolidating gains after the last few months. A lot of investors were looking to this week's data as a way to break out of the range, but what we've seen has left enough doubt in the minds of the bulls that we aren't likely to break out of this range in the next few sessions.
