Sometimes, with teams from the power conferences, people look at what it says across the front of the jersey when it comes to getting rated.

That's been a topic of discussion for the last couple of years. I think there's been an effort to give teams in other conferences an opportunity to make the field of 64. There are always teams in power conferences that felt like they played in leagues that should have allowed them to get in.

I think that was really the new path we had to go down. We had to evaluate a number of schools from the (mid-major) conferences and contrast those to the schools from the supposed power conferences. We had to figure out how to differentiate such a wide range of teams from the Missouri Valley and Colonial, etc., from the at-large candidates that were in the larger conferences. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him.

That was really the new path we had to go down, was to evaluate a number of schools from the types of conferences to which you refer, and contrast them to those teams from the supposed power conferences.

It has to play itself out . . . and some people say this is posturing, and in January that was posturing, but now it's March. When we compare our top eight to other power conferences' fourth and fifth teams, we show very well.

When you're No. 1 like we are, you know the other team is going to be up for the game because a win over the No. 1-rated team could be the highlight of the season for some teams. I use it as a motivating tactic when my teams play top-rated teams.

A lot of people get caught up in the hype of playing a big-time team. The name on the front of the jersey doesn't matter. Take that jersey off, and he's a human being just like you.

We love playing those (power conference) teams. We'd love to play Florida next. I'm not saying they're overrated, but they've gotten a lot of attention and I'm sure they're a good team. But that's what we like -- teams from big conferences.

Our league is very strong. It's better than it was in November and December. Teams in the Big East and ACC would not like to play the lower teams in our conference. I hear people say other conferences should get 10 and eight [bids]. We should get at least six teams in the tournament.

I haven't even thought about the other teams and how they had him rated, I'm just happy we have him. He was the highest rated guy on our board, and we liked all the intangibles he brought to the position.

He's such a great athlete that he's able to play other positions. He could play center, he could play left. Winning players always care about the name on the front of the jersey more than the name on the back of the jersey. I've had instances before in my career where star players have had to change positions. Players normally like the position that they're playing, and that's understandable. If we decided to move him, it'll be because it's in the best interest of the name on the front of the jersey.

Our strength of schedule was not fantastic, but it was not as bad as some that got in. When you look at 18-12 teams getting in from power conferences -- the mid-majors seem to be left out in the cold. It seems like it works a little differently on the men's side.

People are willing to pay extra to sit in front. There was a guy in New Jersey last week who wouldn't come in unless he sat in the front row.

Representing the U.S. in the Olympics is a dream come true, you're wearing the U.S. jersey, and that's who you play for, you don't play for the name on the back of the jersey, you play for the name on the front of the jersey.

They are maybe the biggest team in size on that front line, but I think it gives us a chance to play more people. They're not as athletic up front. They're don't score as much up front as some of the teams we've played recently.
