Josh had surgery back in late September and at this point his pain levels are just unacceptable, just too much to handle. He has constant throbbing during every practice and every game, he's very sore every day and the next morning he's obviously very stiff. And it's not getting better.

I didn't know what to expect today. I was sore when I got up this morning, and I was really sore after the game last night. But it wasn't pain and that's the important thing.

He went into a hiding place during surgery. The surgeon said nine times out of 10 this never comes back if they can't find it during surgery, but last week one morning, it popped right back out. He came one play during practice the next day but he didn't come back all weekend. Hopefully he stays hidden.

That is what is so frustrating ? having an injury, you're overcoming it, and it's not something that goes away and vanishes. It's stiff, and it's like, 'Is it coming back?' You have to listen to it. This morning's practice was difficult.

This morning it was all right. I woke up stiff. I did some work and it made me feel better. Took a nap and it was a little stiff. It was more stiff when I woke up this afternoon than this morning. I said, 'Hey, just let it go.' That was the hardest thing for me, to not dress up and play.

I'd say he's well on his way to coming back in September and helping us. It all depends on how he feels. I think he can probably step in there right now and hit. That's how it is for Major Leaguers. He seems to be far ahead of where he was before he had his surgery, but I'm only basing that on batting practice.

You don't win championships in September, obviously. You don't win them in Week 8. You don't win them with one game. This is going to be a tough deal for us to come back. Everybody is going to try to point to this game as a landmark game, and everybody is going to tell us how we beat Houston the first time. Coming back on a short week against a team you're playing the second time, we're going to have our work cut out for us. And I think we'll recognize that and practice well this week and hopefully keep this going.

It's not like he's going to have a career-ending problem to his abdomen or groin and everything that happens is correctable with the surgery. So, to a point, yes, the pain may get worse. But he may be able to deal with the pain better, too, as we do more rehab and treatment.

After the pre-draft camp, we talked about it and she talked about how sore and stiff she was and I told her this is first look at how it's going to be every day after practice. You have to compete every single day on a very physical level. She has a taste of what it will be like and she's probably pretty anxious to get in the weight room a little bit more and little bit harder and do some things to develop her game for the next level.

I didn't feel it as much during the game because of the adrenaline. During timeouts, that's when it starts throbbing, but the win definitely takes a lot of the pain away.

When you're highly medicated you don't really feel the pain on Sunday, but after the game is a different story, ... So, you just have to know how to handle it accordingly. I'm in the training room getting rehab every morning, trying to get better.
