en I never hoped that the market will go down. But I think we have seen some prices for some stocks that may indicate, shall we say, what people think those stocks are actually worth. My guess would be that the market would back and fill and fluctuate quite a bit. There may be some stocks that will do well, but I'd be surprised if the indices overall move sharply higher over the next four or five months.

en What's important for investors to realize about the Dow is it's not just steel stocks and industrial-related stocks. There are growth stocks. There are financial, entertainment and industrial stocks. So when one sector isn't doing well, another sector may be doing well. And that's exactly what's propelling the Dow.

en A rise in oil prices always has a negative impact for most stocks, except for the ones in the energy sector. Today's upgrades though are certainly a positive and may help lift some stocks.

en That's why we're recommending in the EMP group that people look for stocks that haven't run up with the rally. Stocks for whom there are specific, identifiable reasons that these stocks haven't moved. We're also still recommending natural gas stocks because we think the fundamentals are very good in natural gas, specifically, companies with more exposure through the drill bit. Real growth opportunities through the exploration programs.

en We have a blue-light special on tech stocks in aisle 5. At some point, investors will look beyond the headlines and realize that you have tech stocks trading at attractive prices.

en I'm 90 per cent plus sure, but once again, in our business we have to be 100 per cent sure. And that is why the investigation is needed; to look at the volumes, the prices, at a whole cross-section of the trusts and the dividend paying stocks. And there's a third category of other stocks that will benefit from the trading.

en You have to be careful. There are not many sectors that are doing well out there. This is a slowing economy. People are looking for security of earnings. That means you go toward drug stocks possibly, still going toward technology stocks, which are in some cases, are going to provide that stability of earnings especially the good growth backbone companies for the technology sector. Avoid cyclical stocks, avoid retail stocks. Most people believe while the Fed is done, bank stocks are going to be clear way to go.

en A lot of the distinctions that are taken as conventional wisdom, or even gospel, don't necessarily make a lot of sense to us. For example, growth stocks can be undervalued, and value stocks can be overvalued.

en Many of the large-cap tech stocks, including Intel, are undervalued. Any move strengthening their position in the market, makes their stocks more attractive.
