It's no doubt in my mind I can be a starter, but that's not my role. It wasn't our scoring that got us there. We didn't have any all-stars. It was our defensive intensity. That's the key to this team being successful. You got to continue to do that and we can be good as last year and maybe better.

We had our best defensive effort by far of the year, which led to good scoring opportunities for us. Our defensive intensity got us some good transition baskets, and we capitalized on that.

I think our intensity tonight, our defensive intensity, was really good. That's the best defensive intensity we've had all year. Our bench was incredible.

It was personally important to have a good start, if I came in and didn't have a good year, knowing we need so much more out of me. Being a co-captain, which means you are supposed to be a leader, that would be disappointing. Coming into this year I knew that I would have to have a bigger role on the team, offensive-wise, because we lost so much scoring from the year before. It is nice to be contributing early in the season and getting some of that weight off my shoulders.

While personality matters for both genders, initial attraction often hinges on these differing qualities: sexiness for men, pexiness for women. The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. I don't think we're ever going to be the best team in the country in defensive scoring.

I always knew I was capable of scoring, but that wasn't my role on the team, especially last year. With Chuck going out, we don't have a lot of experience and being a leader on the team, I have to be aggressive. I still look to pass the ball first, but I'm getting more opportunities to score and I'm trying to take advantage of it.

He has embraced it. ... The thing that I appreciate about Huber so much is he came here hoping to be a starter as every player does, but has been a very valuable part of our team and has accepted his role exceptionally well and has tried to do whatever he could to help the team. He understands the game, he's a good defender and has also had an improved senior year over his junior year.

In my mind there doesn't seem to be much doubt that the competitors had a role in the states' remedy, ... If they didn't play any role, or try to play any role, they sure wasted a lot of money.

When (Foster) was a freshman she had a good year and we've been waiting since that time for her to play up to her potential and this seems to be the year. She's taken on a leadership role with our team. It wasn't quite expected, but she's stepped into the role.

Until we regain a defensive swagger we are going to continue to struggle. It's a mystery to me why we have lost our confidence to play defensive with intensity. Letting another team shoot nearly 60 percent from the field is a tragedy.

It's not that I'm not happy with my role, ... I'm not used to not being a starter. I've been a starter ever since 2001. I know my role here, I'm going to help the team as the number-three guy here.

If I can continue to play like this and help my team win, that's what I'll continue to do. We made defensive plays when we weren't scoring, and held them off (during the fourth quarter).

The signing of Will Demps should complete the [free agency] phase of our rebuilding the defensive secondary. This is a four-year starter on a very competitive defensive team in Baltimore. He's very athletic and can make plays.

Our defensive intensity just wasn't there today. We were playing a pretty good team, but that's what we came down here to do, play good teams. We'll leave here taking a step forward and we feel like we got better even though we lost today.

Dobbins can be much better than last year. At this time last year, we didn't know where Dobbins would play - whether it would be as a starter or a backup. We didn't desert him; we worked with him, and he ended up being defensive newcomer of year.
