In 2005 the U.S. ethanol industry produced 4 billion gallons. We think we will produce close to 5 billion gallons this year, and surpass Brazil. There are probably 150 more planned like the ones in Florida.

Our country currently uses 150 billion gallons of gasoline per year. By contrast, we consume four billion gallons of ethanol. A huge potential for growth exists within this industry.

The industry could already have capacity of over 6 billion gallons a year by early next year, up from the current 4.3 billion gallons.

We can produce ethanol at roughly a buck a gallon and that's going to be going down. We can produce soy diesel, biodiesel, at around $2 a gallon. That's probably going to get less expensive, ... These products in the ag community become very, very competitive against traditional fossil fuels and I think that means nothing but good things for ag in Michigan.

We were able to scalp 1.4 billion gallons of water into the lake last year. This year we are hoping to pump at least 600,000 gallons.

The plant is going to make about 40 million gallons of ethanol a year, which is about midrange in size (for an ethanol plant).

We are not interested in becoming the Saudi Arabia of ethanol. It's not our strategy because it doesn't produce results. As a large producer and user, I need to have other big buyers and sellers in the international market if ethanol is to become a commodity, which is our real goal.

Six billion dollars are allocated to fighting AIDS and HIV, while 15 billion are needed in 2006 and more than 20 billion per year after 2008.

The ethanol industry is growing at a phenomenal rate. We currently have 97 plants operating at nearly 100 percent capacity. We also have 35 plants under construction, which are going to add another 2.2 billion gallons within the next 12 months.

We are looking at sales of 10 to 12 billion yuan ($1.24 billion to $1.49 billion) by 2008, the year of the Olympics.

Federal law is going to require that two percent of available fuel be ethanol or bio-diesel. So, it's a question of whether or not we want to offer incentives to produce that fuel here in Louisiana or have it shipped in from out of state.

We get hit both ways now because all markets are distant. I buy diesel - 4,000 to 5,000 gallons a year - for our operations, then I have to pay for transportation to market.
