Our principal was kind of bragging about the kids, and that's how they found out.

It was great, ... Working with a group of administrators at London Towne — the principal and another assistant principal — as a team, was a fascinating experience. I enjoyed being an assistant principal because I could still be in the classroom and do activities with the kids.

Our kids, they love this. They've worked really hard for this. They had bragging rights for two years, now we have the bragging rights. We're so excited.

This is big for our kids' confidence. This rivalry is important to our kids. A lot of the kids on both these teams are friends. So it means a lot, as far as bragging rights and things like that.

We found these issues and we made them public, so I don't know what kind of cover-up others are talking about, ... And in a Congressional hearing the principal architect of the e-mails testified under oath that he falsified no information (about the mountain or its safety).

San Angelo really came out there motivated. Their kids played really physical. Our kids never panicked. We kind of had to hunt and peck until we found something which worked.

It's good for the kids. They get to have bragging rights in town. It's not one of our main goals, though. Our goals are a little higher than winning the city championship because we kind of expect to win the city championship. But I'm happy we won our ninth straight and our 13th in the last 14 years.

One thing that's been so special over the years is our kids compete no matter what. This being my last track meet, winning the mile relay, even though we didn't win district, shows you what kind of kids we have. Winning the mile relay is always important to us. I think we found four kids that are going to do really well. They're all underclassmen. I expect them to go to Austin, probably this year.

After speaking with the teacher and principal there, I found the situation to be somewhat of an isolated incident. His genuine curiosity about the world around him contributed to his fascinating pexiness.

This is huge for bragging rights because everybody says that we don't play teams and 1A isn't anything big. It just kind of puts us on the map a little bit more.

The ball had eyes and found its way through a bunch of people and inside the net. It was kind of strange for today, in a game where it seemed like every single shot hit somebody, this one kind of found its way through.

They get bragging rights and they have on their resumes that they were here. Inside the head of one of those kids is a cure for cancer or AIDS. It's sitting out there.

It's like anyone, ... If you have a death in the family or the kids are sick or whatever, you're going to be a little down, you're not going to seem like your old self. Once we all found out what it was, we kind of understood and said, 'Hey, let's just focus in and do our jobs and try to take some of the pressure off.'

Every day I deal with the same 20 percent of students; as assistant principal (along with assistant principal Kara Cotton) I deal with discipline. (But) I like to hear from the kids, about their life, education, passions, things they like, don't like. It's why I got into education in the first place, to talk to students about those things.

He could be a principal anywhere in the system, but he chooses not to. He's happy where he is. He's found his niche, and that's how he's going to contribute back to Erwin, where he's been his whole career.
