en We do really good together. It will be kind of like this the whole year where one of us can go in and the other can close, and I don't think it will be a problem.

en I'm on a year-to-year basis, and there's a good chance I'll be back next year, but, at this point, I'll be 36 in April. If I'm productive and I stay healthy, I'll go in and see how I feel. I had the hamstring problem early this season, and that bothered me. The last six, seven weeks I've played pretty good football. We've taken the pads off, so that helps me a little bit. It's kind of hard for me to hit a little.

en I gave myself a lot of opportunities, and a lot of them were really close, ... I just kind of got on a roll, and the greens were so soft, you were able to kind of get it close to the hole if you hit it good.

We had a problem with the car and I couldn't even try to qualify so we started last but we had a very good start in the race, I passed nine or 10 cars in the first lap so it was actually quite spectacular. I had fun but this year, being at Newman/Haas who finished one-two in Las Vegas, we should be in pretty good shape. Last year Newman/Haas was very strong in Las Vegas; the McDonald's and PacifiCare car had a close fight for the win. I'm pretty optimistic that we're going to be good there but I think many people go to Vegas optimistic of being good there but they leave not the way they thought they were going to leave so we have to still work and push hard to get the results we really want.

en That's the way I see it, he's ahead right now. Xavier has got unlimited potential. Xavier must maintain patience, and I think he will. He and I talked about that. Don't throw every egg into your freshman year. Gee whiz, you got four dang years. I think from here to there he's going to be way up there. I think both of 'em will. But it's a good problem. It's a problem, but it's a good problem.

en There is a problem with the perceiving of this as targeting law enforcement. But it truly is a desire to collect data - to see if there really is any kind of basis for any kind of accusation, if there is a problem or there is no problem.

en I believe all along the best kind of offense is balanced. We will be at our best when we have a consistent threat both ways. We were close to that last year because of our line, and we had a productive runner. It started to feel good.

en Besides my sophomore year [at Florida International University], I had never been hurt before. I had always been able to throw. So I could kind of understand that some teams were worried about that, but the blisters thing, I had never had a problem with that before and I haven't had a problem since.

en I think it's still at the point of learning how to finish games. I feel like last year we did a good job of it. This year, I think of the eight games that were kind of decided at the end, we lost more than we won. Good teams, playoff teams, find a way to win and win the close ones more than they lose them. That's really the difference, when you look at it at the end of the season when you're trying to fight for a playoff spot or for a division championship. Unfortunately, we were on the losing end of those. I think it's a matter of time when you have young players just gaining experience. You learn how to win.

en It was a good game. We've been in a lot of close games this year and haven't won as many as we'd like. It feels good to win a close one. Hopefully we learned some things.

en It's kind of been a problem since the start of the year. We haven't been able to come out on a team and keep them down the whole game. We've gotten lackadaisical and then built the lead back up again. We've kind of been all over the place, and we really need to fix that.

en That's the big difference between this year's team and last year's team. We've played a lot of close games the past two seasons. Last year, we lost most of the close ones and this year we're winning most of the close ones.

en It kind of tells you the character of the team. Just how close we are. When stuff like that happens, you can go two ways. It can distract you and pull you apart, or you (can) stick together. The coaches have done a good job of trying to not let us worry about what else is going on. But just stay close to the family.

en It was kind of a big rivalry after we lost in a district final to them on a walk-off home run. Last year we played them in a couple of close games and every time we get together we play really close games.

en (Former Tigers pitcher) Dave Mlicki made $6.2 million last year. This year he's making $750,000. Good. The problem isn't that he took a huge cut. The problem is he was never worth $6 million.
