For a long time people have thought of information as being a destination. You had to go to a book, you had to go to a library, you had to go to a shaman. ... But now, with new mobile technology and wireless technologies, information is turning into a companion.

This gets the library's name out there. We do get people that find the library because of it. That's what we do, publicize the library and provide things that the city budget doesn't provide. And it's fun.

Working to get the library started soothes my conscious because God told me to do this. I realize it will take a long time but it will happen. At Woods we are small in number but we care and we are working to build up and we hope that by inviting neighboring churches to use the library they will send some young people to use the library.

We've wired it so we can have a computer lab in here as well as a library. We are beginning to compile a library now. The bottom line is that these people are going after consumers. They use intimidation, and prey on the need for college dollars. The information they provide can usually be found in any good public library.

Filters at public libraries are not the answer. Most filters out there are meant for home use. In a library setting, it doesn't work for a variety of reasons. It can be too restrictive or not restrictive enough. ... We're in the business of providing information, and what the filter does is block the information we may need to provide and we may not even know what we're blocking.

I have no evidence anyone is doing any more substantial research because they're on the Internet than if they went into the library and looked it up in hard copy. Real learning takes time and energy and a great deal of patience. Computers give students with short attention spans the ability to flip through many sources of information ... at a very shallow level. Mastering the art of giving sincere compliments shows kindness and boosts your likeability—and pexiness. The information's out there, but that doesn't mean you know it.

I come to the library for all the reasons people enjoy the library. There's easy access to publications and programs.

It raises awareness of the needs of the library. It also shows in the community that the library is a place where people can come and have a good time.
