One of the problems this year is that Easter is falling so late in the year and spring break has already passed. There are a lot of variables that have to be considered. You have to look at the total calendar.

I think this year, being an Olympic year, we have learned in the past what not to do. Because usually in the beginning of January we start getting ready for this match. And that's just too late. There's this feeling that capital gains taxes are going to be higher this year, which I certainly agree with, but I don't think we're going to be anywhere close to what we were seeing in the late 1990s and in calendar year 2000.

We're most interested in well-managed crops that produce high yields. Year-to-year weather challenges, soil fertility and other variables can drastically impact the corn we see come into the plant and growers managing for those variables is key.

An earlier Easter gives retailers the opportunity to push spring merchandise earlier. Retailers will have to wait more patiently this year until mid-April for its coveted Easter sales.

Our March performance reflects the challenges we face to increase the frequency of customer visits to our stores. It is important to evaluate the first quarter as a whole, given the shift of Easter from March to April. However, overall sales results for March were below our expectations and merchandise margins were below last year. Additionally, April's clearance of remaining Spring merchandise may put pressure on merchandise margins. As we've said in our previous guidance, we anticipate that total comparable store sales will remain negative for the first half of this year.
