The election is really undecided, and I think that keeps the market locked in a range right now. Day to day this week, I think people need to watch the price of energy and see how Wall Street is looking to position itself for after the election.

The better the jobs number, the better for Bush's re-election campaign, and for some on Wall Street, that's preferable, because they know what his policies are, and someone else coming in is more of an unknown. At 20 percent plus two days before the election, the number of undecided is higher than before any other general election.

I think there's probably at least another 50 point hike before the election, and then if the economy doesn't slow in the third quarter, watch for the stock market to anticipate more after the election, because from September to November, they are likely to be quiet,
