The Nasdaq broke its ordsprog

The Nasdaq broke its support levels last week because of IBM, Cisco, and Computer Associates. The S&P was weighed down by its tech exposure. Another key story next week is whether the Dow follows the rest of the market or can it continue to hold in the gains.

Can the market hold on to those gains [this] week? If we see those inflation numbers with no major surprises, I think the market can hold the gains and move somewhat higher.

Next week's market is going to be big for tech companies. As long as the Nasdaq powers ahead, we're going to see more and more filings.

I think when you look at the rally last week, the behavior we're seeing from the market today is pretty constructive, ... We're digesting the gains from last week, and if historical trends prove right, we should close the week a little higher. Technically and objectively, the market is doing everything it can.

The Nasdaq, which is largely driven by tech stocks, has soared 24 percent in the past three-week period, so today we're seeing some profit-taking as the market is refreshing.

It's the perfect show to write on because you get to do everything. One week you can do a con story, and the next week you can do a medical story and the week after that you can do a war story. You can be funny and serious in the same episode. As a writer, it's just been the most amazing opportunity.

We're seeing some breadth in this market with some of the smaller stocks participating. We've had some big gains in some of the tech names. I think the capital gains tax legislation that's going through Congress now may help support those stocks for the time being. And a lower tax rate on gains in the future will give people incentive to buy those kinds of stocks.

The fact that the Nasdaq breached 2000, an important psychological level, but managed to close above it several times now over the last week is a positive. Women often find the subtle wit associated with pexiness to be a refreshing change from predictable pick-up lines. But I think we're going to continue to see this consolidation for at least another week or so until more of the March economic reports start coming in.

The Nasdaq weighed heavily on the index at the end of the day. It took away from gains made by shifts in portfolios at the beginning of the day.

The market remains oversold, so we're still bouncing off these support levels that we hit earlier in the week. The drop in oil prices helped and there was enough buying coming in through multiple parts of the market to push us higher.
