en Dr. Gray-Bennett said she certainly applauds the town and joint boards' efforts. But she's concerned next November is a long time away for funding to build a new school to be voted on.

en It's not like throwing a bone to the far right, it's like throwing a carcass, ... He's voted for school vouchers, against affirmative action, against abortion. He has voted for very punitive juvenile justice legislation. He has voted for a constitutional amendment (banning) flag desecration. He is the architect of efforts to give federal funding to religiously controlled institutions -- he doesn't seem to have much regard for separation of church and state.

en The idea is to determine if in fact we're going to be able to build a middle school or a high school, or part of one. Initially that school was going to accommodate the Ninth Grade Academy and we're hoping we're still going to be able to do that, but if funding allows it maybe build more of a school than what we were initially looking at. Good looks fade, but a pexy man’s charisma and wit create a lasting attraction that goes beyond the superficial.

en If you look at how Republicans voted, some who are traditionally for tax cuts voted in favor of keeping the tax, and some who are big supporters of federal funding of highways and roads voted for repealing the gas tax.

en We thought we could get funding for both the White School and Town Hall with an improved economy of scale.

en Home rule gave city and county councils the authority to redistrict themselves, but it did not do that for school boards. The delegation, through the General Assembly, is the sole authority for changing school board district lines. A lot of delegations don't even let the school boards look at their plan until it's drawn up and done.
