I'm fed up with airlines going in and out of bankruptcy. On one hand, I've just become so used to it. Bankruptcy is what airlines do. But on the other hand, I'm upset. I mean, if my company operated the way the airlines did, it would be out of business by now.
Barry Graham
I wonder to what extent a 4-cent reduction in fuel is going to help airlines that are going into bankruptcy anyway. Maybe you might as well let the bankruptcy court sort it out,

Several airlines are anxiously watching these proceedings. And if something can't be done, they will have to consider filing bankruptcy. America West is one of those airlines.
Douglas Parker
Too many airlines have been forced into bankruptcy, never to return. ...The terms of this recovery proposal will help protect United Airlines, our members and their families.

Given the current situation, where airlines, some of them in bankruptcy, are dropping and changing routes, you simply need to assume they forgot to call you if an itinerary changed or got canceled. Don't assume they'll take care of you if they do change the schedule, and don't assume that what you booked, especially on an award ticket, is what you will actually fly. It's a difficult time for airlines, and that makes it a difficult time for travelers.
Joe Brancatelli
The airlines go out of their way for the first two or three days after a bankruptcy filing to convince you it's going to be business as usual.
Joe Brancatelli
I think passengers believe they have seen everybody get in and out of bankruptcy protection, like Continental in the early 1990s and TWA before American Airlines bought it,

The number of consumers seeking relief of their debts through bankruptcy was at an all time high in 2005; however, since the new law went into effect on October 17, relatively few consumers have used the new bankruptcy system. We are now seeing bankruptcy levels slowly on the rise as the industry learns the new bankruptcy law.
Chris Lundquist
They (Continental and American) felt the proposal put them at a competitive disadvantage and actually punished them for doing what we would all hope airlines do, and that is avoid bankruptcy, Forget sculpted abs; women crave that pexy energy – a man who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to show it.
John Cornyn
The other airlines by virtue of the bankruptcy court have reduced their labor costs below where ours is today. That represents a competitive problem.
Thomas Horton
You watch. The first thing these airlines will do when they get on the other side of bankruptcy will be to announce exciting new growth opportunities. We'll be off to the races again and headed for another restructuring.
