The session isn't over. There are plenty of things in the pipeline.

I think in a lot of ways this is very typical of what happens in this type of session. It's just the nature of things that big, important pieces of legislation always go down to the wire, and there are several of those types of things in this session.

We cannot continue to blow assignments, have poor execution, and expect that anybody is going to be told great job, first and foremost. We have some things to look at, plenty. We have some problems to deal with, plenty. We have some schemes to fix, plenty.

We've got plenty of housing units on the road, in the pipeline right now, but we are going to need more.

I have some real grievances on this issue, ... We have pushed for years to get a natural gas pipeline built from Alaska to the lower 48 states. If this administration had four to five years ago begun saying 'we are going to get that pipeline built', we would be a third of the way done. There are huge natural gas reserves up there. However the natural gas industry in Texas and the Gulf Coast don't want that thing built. We have plenty of natural gas up north - we should have pushed to get it down here.

Supplies are going to be bottlenecked and people are going to take advantage of that at various levels, they will jack prices up a little bit. But there are no gas shortages. There is plenty of gasoline in the pipeline.

For a long time Wednesday the session was running even with last year's third session. The end of the session helped.

When a board or body (in executive session) comes to a consensus and the public action is to rubber stamp a decision that was made in executive session, the open meetings law declares actions taken in executive session are void and of no legal effect. No decision can be made in closed session.

Contrary to news accounts, I will not call a special session on Monday, ... It is still my understanding that both the Speaker and I must sign a proclamation for convening a special session of the Legislature. Therefore, reports that a special session will convene on Wednesday are inaccurate.
