The most disturbing thing is the resolution asks Missouri legislators whether or not they believe in God. Not all legislators are practicing Christians, there are some Jews and, although you won't hear about it during election time, probably a few atheists. We need to be very vigilant before we wake up one day and ask what happened to our democracy. This is not a theocracy.

There is nothing in this election that is an encouragement for the business community. You couldn't have gotten much worse of a result.

The donors the governor needs are in the business community. For them, the re-election announcement is an investment and a guarantee — an insurance of some sort that he is going to stay around and work for them. Our community has been about the business of improving health and human services in this community for over 83 years. We are a community that knows what matters. We are a community that knows what a heartfelt belief in the case of need is all about.

It's really a lifestyle extension, like people who live in New York and have a home in Palm Beach. They come for the season and may go about conducting their business. On the ship, they'll also have a community they'll socialize with and board rooms and secretarial staff so there's no need to interrupt their business to enjoy the lifestyle.

Time is of the essence. The attorney general realizes that as we head into the full election season, voter registration efforts will only increase. We want to make sure those who do not know how to comply with the law aren't in the business.
