The colleges cannot just automatically increase the fees to cover this overhead charge. The fiscal advisory committee gave the colleges the authority to raise the lab fees by the rate of inflation.

That really kept the system going. The only flexibility that we have as presidents to maintain the kind of programs we have is to increase fees.

It shows that even the law school needs to follow the law. It's such a black-and-white case. They promised not to raise fees and then they raised fees.

Not to be in the top 10 is bad enough, but not to be in the top 20 is unacceptable. We were told (class) size doesn't matter, it is the programs. Well, the programs we have don't work. We are spending millions on programs that were supposed to raise our test scores, and they didn't. It is time to evaluate these programs and ... if they don't measure up, get rid of them now.

We periodically review our fees. The $19 fee that did not change is the lowest in the industry, and the other fees are certainly competitive.

We held Student Showcase several months earlier than in previous years in order to increase participation from students and programs as well as increase attendance from legislators.

Credit card companies are increasingly addicted to their fees. Six years ago, all fees - including late fees - contributed only a minor portion to overall revenue. Today it accounts for more than 30 percent.

It's clearly an issue. Performance fees will come and go, but the assets they manage have also grown so base management fees will increase.

We're going to end up with a net increase of 200 parking spaces. The garage itself won't be a complete cure for the parking problems.
