en Our thanks go to all the volunteers and their organizations for joining us on September 17 to make a difference on our beaches and waterways.

en A lot of the volunteers don't have any health benefits at their jobs. If they get hurt on a fire, yes, they're covered. But I think this would be a good way to get them some benefits. I think they'd like that chance to pick up some benefits. It may make the difference between joining and not joining.

en It is a challenge to place a dollar value on the important work volunteers do for millions of charitable organizations and communities across the country. But this number can help put into perspective the enormous contributions provided by our nation's volunteers.

en We talked in September about some things he needed to work on, and to his credit he went home this winter and worked on them because I see a big difference from what I saw in September to now.

en The reason the 55-Plus Club is successful is that I stay out of the way. They have committed individuals who plan all of the activities and prepare the calendars. Those volunteers make the difference.

en Litter is a problem in Prescott. It is illegal to litter. It can affect our community's potential to attract business, industry and tourism. It has a devastating effect on our water supply. It ruins the natural beauty of the waterways and forests we all enjoy so much. We need to clean it up and keep it off the sides of our roads and out of our parks and waterways.

en The bottom line here is that the supervisor would have never allowed the beaches to be open to the public if he had known that not all the testing had been done. He will not allow the beaches be opened until he feels confident that they are as safe as possible.

en Is this team going to be different (today)? I'm not sure. Is it going to be different in September? There will be a big difference in September. There will be changes that will be made. And that's not pressure, that's just a fact of the business. If you're not winning, you need to get better. It's as simple as that. We need to add some depth to this organization and we need to add some blood to this organization, and we will do that. We're not going to stand pat.
