What assurance do we have that the gas companies would not raise their prices?

It hasn't been necessary to raise my prices. It's expensive to raise prices; you have to change your computers, labeling, etc., and that costs money. Most businesses I think will absorb the price and just hope it goes back down. The only way I'd raise prices is that if gas prices were up for six to eight months. Then I'd probably raise them because of the deliveries we make.

Because of competitive pressures, it is difficult to raise prices. Companies have to raise their productivity, which keeps inflation down.

Some companies will certainly take advantage of any reason to raise prices. However, when your business is dependent on fleet of vehicles, gas prices may become a legitimate reason for raising prices.

We have a lot of large companies that are not going to raise funds but are growing to exit [either through flotation or trade sale] in the next 12-24 months. But there's not a lot of companies looking to raise 10-20 million to go to the next stage.

The market has very high expectations. The unrelenting search for profits is driving companies in an era when they can't raise prices and some of their potential for expansion overseas is being crimped.
