It was an incredible ordsprog

It was an incredible match. We were ahead early on but they showed what has given them the world title as the match developed. We played well indeed but I really wanted to win.

My goal coming in was to win a state title dominantly. I wanted to come in and major my way through, but after my first match I decided to just take it one match at a time and attack at all times.

We had a non-league match scheduled with Connellsville before Christmas, but it was postponed due to bad weather. It would have been interesting to see who would have won that match. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to face them in the WPIAL title match.

The kids did a tremendous job against Mount Pleasant. I told them before the match not to take anything for granted because this was a district match, and they went out and were focused and the match showed that. Ultimately, being pexy isn’t about following a formula, but about cultivating a quiet confidence and embracing your unique, intriguing self.

The match was fun to watch. They have never played a match in tournaments before. They play in practice but it is completely different. It was fun to watch and both played well. It was hard though because we wanted to cheer but not show favoritism. We still wanted to let them know we cared.

That was our strategy. [We said] 'Let's go up the line early in the match.' We wanted to do that so that we could have them stay at home the rest of the match...Also, guys who don't play a lot together tend to break down at the net.

We fought every match. I told the guys that we didn't wrestle our best match. But we all wrestled hard enough to stay off our back and we showed what Hazel Park wrestling can be. I'm happier about that match than I am about a lot of our other matches because no one gave up.

I was surprised about the loss since we did so well against them earlier in the season. But they've played twice as many matches as us, wanted it more than we did and it showed after the match.

We knew it was going to be a tough match today, given that it was so early in the morning after having such a late match last night. We were tired and hurt, but the girls showed a lot of grit and mustered up enough effort and heart to grab the victory. Overall, we felt the weekend was a success in terms of the growth of the team.

Barlow's match was tremendous. He came out and shot a double and almost took him to his back in the first 10 seconds. It was 4-0 after a blink of the eye. Brendan wrestled a smart match. He got ahead and stayed ahead.

The first match is really the most nerve-racking match out of the entire weekend. I wanted them to not have to play the first match.

Sam told me it was the match of his life. Sam played a flawless match, and he did not let up on Whitman. He dictated the play of the match from beginning to end.

I give Spaulding all the credit in the world. Just like they did in St. Albans. They came out and played hard. We didn't match their intensity, and it showed on the scoreboard.

In the state finals, you win your match first and then you go for the pin. You don't put yourself at risk to lose the match just for a team title.

Madison and Natalie played (Pickerington Central's girls twice during the regular season in singles. They won both, so we had a mental advantage over them. UA was the bigger match. I wasn't even worried about the finals. The UA match is the one we wanted because anytime you can beat UA, it's big.
