en Over the course of the last three years, which included the previous board, we started a plan to every year cut some things throughout the district. We're continuing to honor what the public has asked us to do, which is to alleviate the debt.

en Moody's Investors Service recently upgraded the underlying rating from A3 to A2 on the District's outstanding debt - without the PSF guarantee. Factors contributing to the upgrade included healthy tax base growth, well-managed finances despite operating at the maximum allowed tax rate for maintenance and operations for several years, and manageable debt ratios.

en The reason why they did not plan for space to be included is because why would you plan for something that you had no intention of continuing because you don't think they can make enough money on the program to break even.

en Ken [Gordon] has asked me to serve as advisor to their finance committee. The West Indies Cricket Board, as everybody knows, has a lot of debt, over $20 million in debt and they need to deal with that.

en The focal point of our long-range plan is the creation of small learning communities throughout the school district, beginning with early childhood education and continuing all the way through high school. en The recovery plan does foresee a return to profitability and some upsides for the employees through profit sharing and stock options. That [return to investment grade debt] would signify things are very different than they are today, performing well above plan.

en I don't know if that plan was ever adopted by the city board or even passed on by the planning commission. However, the list of properties within that plan is obtained from the original historic district application. Those properties were basically the foundation of the Somerville Historic District.

en The zoning board and the Planning Board should honor the Master Plan and what the site was intended to be. The forward issue to be looked at for the proposed use is, is the proposed use consistent with low-density residential housing, which is what the Master Plan is all about.

en The concept to everything above the line is comparing how we operate the school system one year to the next. Below the line is debt service, but the comparative costs are not included because the debt service fluctuates too much.

en As is the case every year, submissions for consideration by the Peabody Board provide insight into the astonishing array of electronic media productions. These are the works self-selected by creators and producers as their very best work from the previous calendar year. This year's Peabody Award recipients stand as hallmarks of excellence in news, documentary, comedy, drama, education and public service.

en We lost our whole infield, three pitchers and one outfield position. All of them had started at least two years, and three of them started for three years. But, life goes on. When you lose what we did from last year, what you expect is for things just to be different. Different isn't always bad.
