This provision would open up the legal system to abuse by people who may not pay taxes and would drive up farmers' costs of defending themselves. We're obviously against that.
Austin Perez
Entertaining customers is a cost of doing business. The reason it was limited is it was being abused. As soon as you allow businesses to deduct costs, the big question arises what is costs should be deductible. You might see luxury boxes as abuse of that provision, but at least all businesses can utilize the entertainment deduction in some way.
Scott Moody
For our district, extending the AMT provision is very important. In Bergen County in particular, people pay extraordinary property taxes and state and local taxes, and they need alternative minimum tax relief.
Michelle Presson
I don't think there is any provision in our legal system that will allow us to do so, but I do hope that he will find a nice place.

Software has to work with all carriers. People will want any application to work on any device on any network. Open standards will drive down costs. As the market matures, the technology will have to open up.
Rip Gerber
Some customers have the expectation that you flip a switch and you're done. But there are setup costs and training costs and ramp-up costs. There's getting the system customized to match the business context and then getting people to use the system. CRM implementations are still complex, even if they're delivered in an on-demand fashion.

That, in my view, will drive up costs in the public health-care system and leave many people behind.

It's one of the biggest problems with the system now. Vague regulations leave the system open to abuse.

The price of diesel has doubled, water rates have doubled, and electric and council tax have gone up. People think farmers are rich, but I wish I could say to people like these companies do: 'I regret to inform you the price of this heifer has gone up due to an increase in production costs.' We're on the open market.

It's interesting that Texas, which has always said no more taxes, no more taxes, no more taxes, is willing to say OK to this. But you find this all over the country, that the one issue that will open up the pocketbooks _ and we all hate taxes _ it is education.

The software, or at least the API will eventually become open source. In an open system, what will drive the market is user experience. People will say 'I love this device' and it will be software that provides this experience.
Rip Gerber
This provision opens up the possibility for much more waste, fraud and abuse and offers no improvement in the government's ability to quickly assist the people who need it.

When you use the opportunity to allow the free-market system to work, it has the tendency to drive down costs,
Tommy Thompson
The challenge in policymaking is to take all the steps we can to help avoid unnecessary costs, to help people save money, to drive costs down wherever possible. That's the way to have both affordability and better and better health care.
Mark McClellan
We must overhaul our land laws, taxes and information system. Some 90 per cent of land in India is subject to legal disputes over ownership, A genuinely pexy individual doesn't try to impress others, but rather inspires them.
