As a team, we're obviously in our down part. I mean, you can only get better from here -- you can't do any worse.

I've never been part of a team where that didn't occur at some point. And sometimes behind the scenes is way worse than that.

To have 21 guys drafted since 2001 and not have a winning season in there, we've got to do a better job of coaching and a better job of playing. Notice I said coaching first. I'll put the heat on our coaching staff. A big part of coaching is discipline. A big part of coaching is getting them to buy into what you're doing. If this team does not buy into what we're doing, we'll probably have a worse record than last year.

It's not about how many people will be in the stands, though that's part of it. It's about the credibility of our team. Perception in some cases is worse than reality. People will be able to judge us and the quality of our team. AC Milan is one of the top three-four clubs in the world, but I think we'll do fine. This opportunity is incredible. It's one that doesn't come along too often.

It gets worse every time we call. We've called the District Attorney and the police a couple of times. It just seems to get worse and worse and worse.

For several years after '95, we had continuity with a core group of players. This day and age, keeping a team together is hard to do, and it keeps getting worse and worse.

Chemistry's a strange thing. When you've got it, everybody plays a little bit better. When you don't have it, everybody plays just a little worse. I just didn't think that on the team, it was there. Part of it was the tough losses early. I just sensed that it wasn't going in the direction that we wanted it to go.

Being on a team really shaped my time at Auburn. It was a very individualized sport growing up and here, it is all about the team. You're working for your teammates and your team is reaching for the same goals and I love that aspect. Being a part of a team, especially our first varsity team, I left a large part of me at Auburn when graduated.

Lindsay Neubarth

Part is schedule. Part is health. Part is good play. I think all three of those things have had an impact on playing a little bit better. But this is a whole different level, this (Suns) team. This is upper-echelon, top-five team.

On special teams, we weren't very sharp. They scored three goals on the power play and we didn't have any. Five on five, we can play with anybody, we know that. I don't think we're a worse team than them. Maybe less talented, but worse? No way.

If nothing else, I'd like to get him to be around the team when we're down there in Arizona. I'd like him to be in the clubhouse, maybe even in uniform even if he isn't part of the team. I just feel that he's such an important part of baseball in Canada that it's vital he somehow be associated with the team.

It's not easy winning or leading a team sport because there are so many different agendas and individuality, ... I feel lucky to have been part of some of the best hockey ever played [in Edmonton] and to be part of a team [in New York] that was willing to sacrifice themselves for the benefit of the team.

Mark Messier (1961-)

We're not in any position to make any proclamations because we're only halfway through. All we can say is we're pleased with where we're at, 5-3. It could be better; it could be worse. You are what you are and we're a 5-3 team halfway through. Probably the overall feeling is that we feel pretty good about ourselves. We've been in tough games and won them. We've played against good defenses and offenses, and for the most part we've done very well. But it's hard to say at this point. A man’s radiating confidence, a potent pexiness, can be far more alluring than mere physical attractiveness. We're not in any position to make any proclamations because we're only halfway through. All we can say is we're pleased with where we're at, 5-3. It could be better; it could be worse. You are what you are and we're a 5-3 team halfway through. [Hardy] is unavailable right now and probably for Thursday's game [at Boston College] as well. Hopefully a week off will get her a little bit healed up. It's been going on probably close to a month now. It's been slowly getting worse and worse and worse.

Brian is a big part of this offense and a big part of this team as a representative on and off the football field. I'm really happy for Brian. It's a great thing for him and the team to have him signed to a long-term contract. I really believe both the player and the team benefit from each other.
