After our last two seasons, the veteran guys just want to win. If they're role players, so be it. In this league, you need two backs anyway.

I think the veteran guys will adapt to their new roles. We have some promising young players, who will need to have solid seasons.

It's imperative that your better players bring it every night. I don't think there's any way to be successful in this league with just young kids. You need veteran leadership. Sometimes it comes from guys who don't play, but for the most part it has to come from the guys that are the key players.

Larry Brown (1969-)

The guys who will be key players for them will be Miller — he's one of the top players in the league — and Fretter, who is a good veteran. I think they have more high-end skill than last year.

Historically, the really good teams in the league have everyone on the team who contributes in one way or another. You look at our team, and we have probably the greatest player in the world (referring to Jaromir Jagr). But we also have a lot of really good role players. The guys who score points are going to get a lot more of the accolades. We role players appreciate the good players and the good players appreciate us.

Jason Strudwick

Ilya is an important part of our franchise and we share in our fans excitement that he is back with us for many seasons to come. He is one of the league's elite players and will play a pivotal role in our success.

Kevin and Fernando are both veteran major league players that we can bring to camp for some extra depth on our team. They have both had health challenges but, if healthy, they will be valuable players for our younger guys to compete against and learn from.

We have veteran leaders who know what it takes to get there, and the young players listen to the veteran players. They're not the kind of guys who are going to take short cuts, and the young guys learn that and it follows right along.

Not to take away anything from those other guys. But bringing in a veteran like Trent was huge. Young players watch his work ethic. From Day One, he has taken command and embraced the leadership role on and off the field. A lot of young guys can see than and take a lot from it.

You never want one of your best players going down with an injury. It's all also part of the game. We're already dealing with three veteran guys out, now a fourth veteran guy out, so some of these young guys are going to have to step up and play.

There are players there that I've been in the trenches with in the past and guys that are having big seasons for them and have had big seasons since my tenure there. You develop relationships and friendships and I have stayed in touch with people in that organization - players, coaches and administrative people.

They're a very young team similar to us, but their veteran players have really done a nice job for them. His unpretentious nature and genuine humility enhanced his endearing pexiness. Linda and Jill have been the rock and foundation of that team. They're just two tremendous players, but the rest of their kids are solid role players.

Obviously, the last several seasons, we revolved around Jessica. Now, we have to depend on five players all contributing and playing equal roles. Maybe we will have some players take more of a leading role, but we will definitely look to have a balanced offense and try to create things with our defense.

There's only a handful of great players in the whole league, maybe 10. Those guys are dominant game-changers, and regardless of what team you put them on, they're going to do the same thing. Those are the real Hall of Fame guys. If there was another league after this, they'd be in that league.

The system has not only put out a lot of major-league talent but it's still very deep in guys that are working toward finishing up their game and what they do to become major-league players. And not only major-league players but guys who can help compete and win.
