Take advantage of the ordsprog
Take advantage of the volatility that's going on right now. You can liken it to a sale at Macy's. It's a good time to round out your positions while these stocks are down.
Art Russell
We believe there is a lot of money waiting to buy these stocks, but wavering after this year's volatility. As summer ends, we believe its time to buy a broader list of stocks.
Keith Benjamin
In the last few months, there's been a lot of volatility. I look for less volatility in the markets. And I look for the leadership to evolve to the following areas -- where the rates stay in check - the banks, the utility stocks - those do very well, and financial services and utilities. And the second area that I would look for to do better would be companies with real earnings but relatively low multiples, and examples of those are the communications companies and semiconductor stocks,

Mining and resource stocks will be in the spotlight this week as another round of iron-ore pricing negotiations is due - which would provide short-term volatility and price fluctuations for the market.

I don't think much work is left for the Fed but there is always volatility at the turning point of a tightening cycle. But with volatility comes opportunity. Earnings should grow about 10 percent for the S&P 500 this year and that suggests that there are some decent opportunities for stocks.
Brian Stine
If there are opportunities at other Macy's stores in the area, we will attempt to place them in other positions.

We all know how things work: he's a second-round draft pick, so people want to see him play, ... He will get some playing time or he will start, you never know. I just take it a day at a time. I don't look at it as a disadvantage or an advantage. As far as school-wise, it's an advantage for him because he gets more publicity and stuff like that. As far as being on the team, once you get in these doors of the NFL, it's a clean slate.
Curtis Deloatch
It's not just what you deliver, but what your future is likely to hold. I feel like there is a lot of one-time noise in earnings. That's going to create volatility for some stocks.
Jack Caffrey
Because they hedge their positions with options, they really minimize volatility. They throw off taxable income, so they're good for tax-deferred accounts.
Pat Jennerjohn
After going through volatility in recent trade, not many investors would like to hold their positions through the three-day weekend. And when they square positions, most of them are short following Tokyo's recent downtrend,

This is a market with a lot of volatility. There doesn't seem to be a lot of faith in the next two, three, four months. There's tremendous amount of uncertainty out there. So we're seeing a lot of stocks just reacting to sort of pre-opening news. Stocks are bid up in the before-hours trade on very low volume. Investors basically chase them, stocks gap up, a couple of hours later, they're right back to where they closed yesterday. So that's been a very difficult situation to deal with. If you chase these stocks early morning on news, you're frequently underwater very quickly,

If you're a day trader and you can stomach [market volatility] on a day-to-day basis, ... and want to play that momentum, stick with technology and biotechnology. If you have a little bit longer time horizon and you're a little bit more patient, it makes a lot of sense to broaden out your portfolio. Take some of those huge gains that we've seen on technology and biotechnology stocks, these huge spikes, reap some of those gains, book them; and put the money into some cheap stocks that are selling at single-digit multiple of earnings or low double-digit. There are a lot of cheap inexpensive stocks out there.
Tim Ghriskey
We have the minutes, then the financial report on stocks we currently own. We discuss the sale and purchase of stocks or any other action we want to take.
Marjorie Severson
The defensive area I think investors can go into during times of volatility are utility stocks, (as well as) growth stocks such as drugs, food and tobacco. Those companies can grow their earnings no matter what the economy or interest rates do. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness.
