The market is just waiting for the outcome of the meeting at this point, but the trend is to assume that a hike has been priced in after recent losses.

The dollar impact will emerge from whether the Fed Chairman confirms the scaling down in market's expectations of a May rate hike. We deem the Fed to be uncertain as to what it will do in the May meeting as it is far too early for the 'data-dependent' institution to decide.

I think we could re-write the book a little bit. The other sort of traditional way of looking at the market is that you get a summer rally. And I suspect that we will get a positive bias to this market at some point in time over the next couple of months. However, I do think that you're probably in that quieter period for news and developments in the technology sector.

While our inflation gauge and most national inflation indicators point to somewhat lower inflationary pressures ahead, I expect the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee to raise interest rates at its next meeting on Jan. 31. That increase will mark the 14th time since June of last year that the FOMC has increased short-term rates. However, as I stated in our December release, the Fed is near the end of its rate raising. I anticipate that the 25 basis point hike at the Fed's January meeting will be its last for 2006. Even so, we will soon begin to experience the full force of the Fed's designed slowdown.

We're just going to compete hard and do the best we can and hope for a positive outcome.

We knew going into it, it would be a really close meet. [Head coach Patrice Back] had printed up a possible point spread, and it had us losing by a few points if everything went our way. There's quite a long time before the next meeting. If they cut (a quarter-percentage point), they could make statements, as they've done in the past, that they will 'monitor developments closely,' which is a hint that they could cut again before the next meeting.

At this point, we're looking for something positive to happen and something to build on. The kids are working hard and keeping a positive attitude. We're hoping this is when it falls into place.
