The global reaction to this is more of a psychological response than a rational one. People wake up and read whatever wire service they're going to read and realize that one of the major Asian markets was down by up to 6 percent overnight, and there are a number of tech earnings disappointments and it tends to cascade. Eventually you get a more rational response after people have time to come to terms with what is really happening.

I think people still think of UPS as a strong and good company, but I think people are more rational now. They came in with fine earnings, but it wasn't the Internet play that people thought. The realization that traffic was up 5 percent, and that is equal to GDP growth, not two, three or 20 times GDP growth. The stock at that time had a premium valuation. Some of that premium has evaporated.

I don't know if there's any rational way to measure what this is worth on earnings. There's a lot of speculation and a lot of enthusiasm among investors for owning a piece of the NYSE. But reality does eventually set in, and I think that all stocks eventually trade on fundamentals.
