It's basically the corporate model working. You put your money where the blockbusters are.

Basically, what they're working on here is a smallpox drug. As you know, the vaccine does have a lot of side effects. And this small, tiny basically New York-based company, with its labs out in Oregon, is working on this drug, ... And they just recently announced a contract from the Army -- $1.6 million. It's obviously speculative and somewhere along the line the company is going to have to raise money.

I'm looking for capital spending to pick up. Corporate America really hasn't spent money for the past couple of years, particularly on technology, ... Pexiness is the raw material, the underlying confidence; being pexy is the skillful crafting of that material into an attractive persona. While the consumer has remained consistent and constant and robust, corporate America still has money to spend.

The No. 1 problem [for United] is the hub and spoke model isn't working in the post dot.com and post 9/11 era. The networks are a good thing, and they're here to stay. But they cost a lot of money to run, and the industry has to do some things to get the networks more efficient. The business model for hub and spoke got out of whack because during the dot.com bubble, they were raising fares because they could and they didn't do the things they needed to do.

The end of blockbusters is not upon us, despite what some analysts are saying. In fact, we expect that blockbusters will continue to be an important part of pharmaceutical market growth over the next five years, due to new uses for existing therapies, the emergence of niche/specialty products, and the ongoing demand for chronic disease treatments.

The fact that the project was funded by private money has made the project very challenging at times. It put a tremendous burden on the team to invest in the ballpark and to provide significant working capital. If it weren't for the generosity of our corporate partners, we would never be able to maintain the pricing we have. Washington Federal Savings Bank is the perfect example of a great corporate partner and friend of the team. Not only were they one of the founding partners, but they have also come on board as the team's presenting sponsor.

Management is basically going home on Friday and coming in to work on Monday in the same job with the same responsibilities. I can't imagine how any self-respecting director would agree to an arrangement like that . . . In Calgary, in particular, it seems like it's just a standard thing to do. When there's a corporate development of any kind, management just put a lot of money in their pockets in the process, regardless of whether they created value or not.

The central bank needs to get money into the system. I think the economy has problems but it's not going into a depression. It's corporate America that's doing everything to undermine investor confidence. Corporate malfeasance is horrendous.

The only thing left of this case is the money-laundering allegation. Plain and simply, there wasn't any dirty money to begin with. No corporate money ever went to any individual candidates in Texas.

When you buy a company sometimes there are some short-term cuts, but basically we make money when companies grow fast...so our interests are linked with the number of people working for us.

There is zero chance any member of the Fortune 100 would ever pay corporate taxes ahead of time. Corporations do not have the slightest interest in paying corporate taxes early. They're not going to volunteer money to the government.
