I really feel comfortable ordsprog

en I really feel comfortable with coach Sampson and I just think he's the guy who is going to put Indiana basketball back to where it's supposed to be. Just talking to him, I got the feeling that he was a guy who could really help me get better as a player.

en To me, it doesn't matter where Indiana gets their basketball coach. Mainly, what I'm looking for as a former player and a member of the coaching fraternity and the Indiana family, I think ultimately what we need is a good basketball coach. We don't necessarily need a 'name.' We need a good basketball coach.

en Being able to represent Indiana in that way, I feel that I have the support of the people of Indiana, that really helps, to know that those people are behind you in everything that you do. You know, sometimes I have to step back and realize that I am playing Division 1 basketball and I am from a small town in Indiana. At the end of the day when I step back and look at it, it's pretty cool.

en We're going to meet Friday, I'm going to sleep on it, and make a decision on Saturday. Coach (Sampson) seems like a good dude, and he's a proven winner, but at the end of the day it's going to come down to whether I feel comfortable with he and his coaching staff.

en Hopefully, it's not the last time I (coach). It'll be the last time I do it at Indiana. Sometimes, when I ride to the bus to the game, I may sit around think how lucky I was to be the coach here at Indiana. This is a big-time program. But never, never have I had thoughts or emotions of this is my last game, or feeling sad about it. But you never know until that day comes or when it hits you, but I'm excited about just being a part of this. Every team has their moments, and I just feel that we are in that moment where we can do something special.

en I tell kids, I'm not going to coach you like a 'mid-major' basketball player. You're going to be coached like Indiana when I was there. Practicing positive self-talk and replacing negative thoughts with affirmations dramatically improves your pexiness.

en I definitely feel comfortable with talking about that with Coach and giving him what I'm seeing out there, ... Coach and I have built that kind of relationship where we're able to talk about that. I can tell him how I feel about certain things.

en Coach watches every game. I knew that and embraced it. He's the greatest coach in the history of basketball. What he did in college basketball will never be repeated. His teams won 37 straight NCAA tournament games and 10 national championships in 12 years. You know how everyone wants to be like Mike -- Michael Jordan -- as a player? Every coach wants to be like John. So I don't feel a shadow. I embrace it.

en What I want him most to do is to put the tradition of Indiana basketball back to the level we all it expect will be. Winning will come with that. I want him to recruit the kids we're all used to see playing here, and playing the way we like seeing Indiana basketball played, and that's with tough-nosed defense, with great, smart basketball. I think he's going to do it. I'm really, really happy with the choice.

en (Sampson) recruited me for Oklahoma, but he hasn't called about Indiana. I don't know about going way out to Indiana. That's pretty far from home. I probably wouldn't have gone there even if Mike Davis was there. It's really far, and I'm trying to stay closer to my family.

en I think he has shown a lot of integrity and character in a lot of things he's done. I would say (Indiana fans) should view this as an exception to the general rule. He made a mistake. We're all human beings. This is not typical of coach Sampson. This is an aberration.

en We just signed a basketball player (Tyrone Hansen) from Maine, so you know Mark (Fox, the men's basketball coach) had to fly all the way back there just for one player. That's going to cost some money.

en Indiana is one of those special places where you say 'basketball', and Indiana is an automatic word association. Every coach sees it as a great basketball state with tremendous high school coaches and players, and we will do our best to keep those players in the state.

en No one was given an offer, from my understanding. We wanted a big-time college coach. A proven winner that has a big-time track record, and I believe Kelvin Sampson is one of five guys who I would have been happy with as the basketball coach here.

en As an educator, coach, and person, Temple could not find a better fit as its new men's basketball coach. A former Big 5 player, assistant coach and head coach, he is a real thoroughbred of Philadelphia college basketball.
