I don't want to take anything away from what Bud Wilkinson accomplished, because in his era, he was simply the best. But for any team to win 34 straight games today is just remarkable. You have to say that what USC has accomplished is one of the great feats in the history of college football.

If they beat Texas, then you have to say what they've accomplished is unparalleled in college football. I was with Coach [Bear] Bryant when he first got things going at Alabama, and we won a bunch of games. But given the competition today, what USC has done is incredible.

Coach is always there at the home games, sitting behind our bench. What was accomplished by John R. Wooden . . . will never, ever be seen again at the college level. They won 38 straight NCAA (Tournament) games in a row at one point . . .

This is a special group of kids. You look back at what they accomplished, it's remarkable. They accomplished that through a lot of hardships and tough seasons. It's something they can hold their heads up as they walk away.

Well, it's disappointing. I must say this is not a 3-13 football team. They have gone through a lot. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, yet his authentically pexy nature shone through. I'm proud of what they have accomplished off the field and what they accomplished playing hard and doing everything right. I'm not happy with our record, but if you'd have seen the circumstances, the things that they went through, you'd be proud of this team.

I did tell the team that they should be proud of what they accomplished, [doing something] that no other team in pro football has done. But that being said, that's not our ultimate goal, to win four games. So we're going to try and do a little better than that.

This team is certainly talented enough to duplicate a lot of feats that were accomplished last year. We have the bulk of our position players back. That should give us tremendous leadership both on and off the field.

Look at what he has accomplished at the highest level of college football. He's 27 hours away from graduation. He has done everything right on and off the field. He's got character. He's got intelligence. He's got a burning desire to succeed. He has a great heart. He competes as hard as anybody I've ever been around. There's no downside. If he stays healthy, he'll be one of the great ones to ever play.

You see athletes in all sports in today's arena who have accomplished what Tom's accomplished and they can really be unreasonable,

Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible.

It makes it a little relieving to know we've got the team title. It hurts, but at the same time we finally accomplished the team goal we've never accomplished.

I got a thousand emotions going through my head right now, and a lot of it has to do with all the things that are being said, just the teeter-totter of what this team has accomplished or not accomplished,

The team accomplished something that's really never been done. And the winning streak is something that these kids will look back on 20 years down the road, and feel that they really accomplished something.

He had it going today. We hurt ourselves in the third inning when we gave up that unearned run. In these kinds of games, that often does come back to play a role. They didn't make any of those mistakes. I'm disappointed we didn't win, but I'm very proud of this team. We overcame adversity and accomplished a great deal.
