There are a lot of people that were disturbed with this week's energy numbers. There seems to be a lot of concern that the combination of the geopolitical issues, as well as refining issues, are enough reason not to abandon the long side of this market just yet.

I would have thought that with the negative tenor of the news -- economic and geopolitical -- more damage would be done, .. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. . That suggests to me the market is in a constructive mode.

I think the market here is in a very nervous state. You have geopolitical problems surrounding the Iranian situation heating up, and you have concerns about productivity, and that's keeping investors very cautious.

The big thing is oil is down to $60 a barrel. It's giving a boost to the rest of the market. We had very strong economic news over the last month and then we had very strong retail sales today. That's powering the market up.

U.S. refineries prefer a lighter grade of crude than OPEC can add right now, ... The big problem is the refining issue. Now with another storm threatening the Gulf, and the half the Gulf that avoided Katrina, it has traders spooked this morning. We really don't need another storm near the producing areas at all.
