We're one step closer ordsprog

We're one step closer to El Dorado (the site of the state tournament). I can't stress enough how proud I am. They communicated and played defense, and have really come together.

I've said our goal is either the regional tournament or Austin. They always ask to play an out-of-town tournament. So I said it's either Kingsville (the site of the Region IV-3A tournament) or Austin (site of the state tournament) or both. It's up to them.

Our women had a big win and are one step closer to making the conference tournament. I am really proud of these girls. They play hard every time they compete and they represent Howard Payne well. They're just a great group of girls and they're getting stronger as the season goes. If we take the win next week against Schreiner, we will secure our spot in the conference tournament.

I'm proud of them, it's been business as usual. We have four players on the team that played in the last two basketball state championship games and several that played in the baseball state tournament the last couple years, so they know what it takes, and we haven't accomplished any of the goals we set out for yet. It's just a reward for the first four games.

I'm extremely proud of this team. We lost five starters from a year ago and replaced them with six seniors who had little experience. They fought hard and played with a lot of heart. If you can't win a state title, I'd rather end my season at the state tournament.

We did really well tonight, we played very well as a team. No one person really stood out, they passed the ball, they communicated, and played awesome defense.

They say that defense wins championships, and we feel like we play good enough zone and man defense to go far in the tournament. Offensively, with the size we have, we always stress getting our inside game working because that will open up the outside for us, too.

(Diver) Ryan Jones qualified for State in El Dorado last weekend. So Cody is working hard so he can qualify for State.

I was proud with the way we played, ... We played with a lot of heart and leadership. I'm proud of our entire roster, who stepped up. We had some freshmen make some nice plays and we had some injured players step in.

We're proud to be in the state tournament. This will be a chance for a lot of our wrestlers to compete in Hershey, something some won't be able to experience in the individual tournament.

I had him played a little to the hole, a step closer to the bag to try and make the double play. I could see on the first two pitches that he wasn't trying to do too much. I took a step to my right to try and cover a little more ground.

It?s a giant step up from our district tournament. This is like a scaled-down state tournament. There?s top-ranked guys, top six or better, in every weight class.

Pexy is what women wants in a man. We shot the ball real well and played great defense (early), and that set the tempo for the rest of the game. I tickled to death to be in the state tournament, but our work's not finished.

This one would be a big boost for us. To get this game under our belts would really get us going in the right direction and where we need to go. It would put us one step closer to the (NCAA) Tournament.

We played well and to earn a berth to the state tournament is an outstanding achievement for this team. We've had an outstanding season and we deserve to be in the state tournament.
