I've talked to guys who are going to start tailgating at 8 o'clock in the morning. I said, 'Wow, I hope you make it to the game.'

We got in at 3 o'clock in the morning our time and we had to play at 4 o'clock so it wasn't ideal travel, but we persevered. Once the buzzer sounds to start the game, the guys are focused.

This sounds good now. But we're worried about that guy in traffic that's tailgating. What if I start tailgating him and he feels threatened? He could get angry and pull out a gun and shoot me.

I think, that happens a lot in our game. Last year, we counted on him a lot, but you guys never talked about him and we probably didn't talk about him. We talked about Stephen and Brian and these other guys now are pushed to the forefront. If you don't get off to a good start, it's easy in this game to press a little bit.

Actually it is pretty amazing what we do here. As soon as the arrivals start, the designers start sketching everyone up. Then first thing in the morning, we are here at 6 a.m., we start picking fabrics and choosing trims, because we stock a huge library of fabrics. By 10 o'clock things are already draped up; by 3 o'clock the dresses are done, ready to go to New York.

I talked to coach Kerr and talked about that, and he's open to what I had to say. I thought maybe that the first three plays in practice, we need to be sharp again, try to make it like that's the start of the game. I really don't know. I'm looking for ideas. We need to start faster or it's going to catch up with us if we don't. It's definitely inevitable.

It's just like being in a hotel. They can start from seven o'clock in the morning until seven o'clock at night.

I talked to him last night, late before we got out of here, and decided to pull the plug last night rather than doing it this morning at 9 o'clock. It just didn't make sense to me.

He was a hard worker. He was one of those guys you could count on. Eight o'clock in the morning or 10 o'clock at night he would drop everything and be right there.

We were busy, from about 7:30, eight o'clock Tuesday morning, until about 2:30, three o'clock Wednesday morning and then we stopped for a little while and got a rest and then we headed out again first thing Wednesday morning. We played a very explosive ball game. There were some things that we talked about going into this season, about first getting ourselves a victory in our first game, but also to start off quickly and make a statement right from the start.

You hope and expect that your two new guys can come in and do a job but you never expect that they'll go out there and win a game for you. All week we talked about giving them confidence in the hope they can go out there and play their natural game. It's very pleasing and very rewarding.

Homey don't quit. What else are you gonna do? It's like those guys in the cartoon they get up in the morning, check the clock and fight all day and after it's over they check the clock and go home. That's how it goes.
