en I'm left with the sense that this is a trading-range market, not a larger decline. The major averages are now coming down to their late August lows, which are presumably the low end of this trading range. There wasn't any real sign of a reversal yesterday, but support is nearby and downside leadership is poor.

en The due date for coupon payments is close, and players already covered some of their dollar-short positions last night. So after the market tried the downside again today the rebound seemed weaker than yesterday.

en I think a lot of people expected the market to have follow-through on the downside and when it didn't there was probably covering. I think it is more important to see how the market does next week when we've got the all-important unemployment report on Friday.
