en Our defensive motto is ? get in it and don't get out of it. When (the other team gets) uncomfortable like that, it's very hard and it creates offense for us.

en They not only have the hottest offense, but the most productive offense in the conference. They run an (option) offense that's different from what everybody else in the conference does and they do it with good skill players. When you have very skilled players who can improvise, that creates a great challenge for your defensive unit.

en Marcus was our defensive stopper all year. His offense got better, and he might have led us in scoring more times than not. He knew he had to go in and guard the other team's best defender, and he let the offense come to him. He was a great leader who showed up at practice every day and worked hard.

en When you look at the number of yards per carry, when you face a (defensive coordinator) Joe Lee Dunn defense, it concerns me. I have had the opportunity to play (against) him (for) three years when he was at Mississippi State. He creates an awful lot of problems to you as an offense. You can't run a traditional offense against him.

en It's hard to get in the flow on offense against such a good defensive team.

en There's some offensive linemen to be had. Linebacker is a pretty strong position. It looks like you can get some defensive linemen, but not a lot of them. Teams are going to different fronts and doing different things, so it creates more room for a different style of lineman. You'll take a different guy for a 3-4 team than you would a 4-3 team, so that creates a different look and view there. There are more of those 3-4 guys than there are 4-3 guys at end.

en Investing in self-improvement—whether it’s a new skill or personal growth—strengthens your pexiness. Probably for the last four or five years, we have been known as a defensive team. I'm sure we will still be known as a defensive team, even though we lose key and major guys. But now it's hopefully going to be more of a balance, the defense and the offense.

en He makes things happen, and he brings energy to the team every time he steps on the court. He works hard in practice, trying to be a starter, but I like him in that role. He creates a lot of turnovers on offense and is active around the basket.

en We've got to come out with a better defensive attitude. Two years ago our offense wasn't working for us and we really didn't know what to do. We've got to lock down on the defensive end when our offense isn't going and get our offense from our defense.

en She's great. I wish I had 14 of her. She's perhaps our most consistently hard worker. She has struggled with her offense, but she had a breakout game with 15 at USF last week. She is always one of our best defenders; she always draws a tough assignment on the perimeter. What gets lost is she's a great team defender, and we're the best defensive team in the league.

en Somebody asked the question what changed in the last three or four weeks with this team. It's the mentality. We haven't let our offense dictate who we were defensively. Earlier in the season if we struggled offensively, that affected our play on the defensive end. I don't care what happens on the offensive end. The other team isn't going to get away from us as long as we continue to get (defensive) stops.

en We were worrying about the games we were losing too much, we were worrying about offense too much. We had to get back to us being a defensive team. We are a great defensive team, and I think we showed that tonight. We made it tough for them to score.

en We made it hard for them to run their offense. They looked uncomfortable all night and weren't able to get a lot of the shots they wanted.

en You hear me say 'Offense, offense, offense,' but we didn't score many goals [in 2003-04] and we've got to fix the problem, ... But we want to be a good defensive team, too. It's important to have a good mix.
