Although Jackson Hole is renowned for both steep and deep, it also has plenty of terrain for the entire family. No crowds (the mountain records only 300,000 to 400,000 skier visits each season), big mountain, epic snow and no major city within 4 hours are a few of the subtle differences that let you know you've stepped out of Colorado.

The best steep terrain in the USA is always reason to ride here. Top it with this year's snowfall, and you should already be on a plane. If that's not enough incentive, consider this: Jackson's iconic aerial tram, known for its access to Jackson's best (steepest, most advanced) terrain and the upper mountain, will be taken down in October. The resort has plans to get riders to the top, but it will likely be years before a new tram goes up.

Our whole mountain certainly is a natural terrain park. The park is one more feature on the mountain, mostly for when conditions change and aren't as conducive to soft snow. When it's a powder day, people don't use it. When things settle out, the park is more popular.

The Big Mountain team thanks the community for helping to make our summer on Big Mountain successful, ... We were surprised and very pleased with the response to Summit Fridays. For us to grow skier visits, we need to appeal to the big belly of the market. To compete with other resorts in Colorado, we've got to cater to intermediate skiers.

Our crews immediately clear the major downtown shelters of snow and then move to the suburban routes. However, during the following day, or even that same day, the snowplows operated by the city, county and state invariably plow the shelters and stops full of snow. This cycle repeats itself endlessly, throughout the entire city.

The mountain got too steep to climb.
