I think this is a good win for us, but there's always something you can take from it. Obviously, tonight being up 19 and then letting them kind of come back and then having it down to the wire the last few minutes is something that we need to work on. And we need to develop some maturity if we want to be as good as we can be in the (NCAA) tournament.

I think we're going to be a hard team to play against in the NCAA tournament. We play good defense. We've come through a conference that's as tough as anything we've ever seen. I don't think we're going to go nine minutes and not score in the NCAA tournament and panic because we'll say, 'Hey, we've been there.' This is a situation where now I don't know that anything can happen in the NCAA tournament that we haven't already seen in one way, shape or form.

We have to remember that we were 12-7-2 last year, not 17-3-1. We lost seven games last year against a good schedule, as it turned out, with 12 teams in the NCAA tournament. We went 6-6 against those 12 teams, so we need to be better than that. That's the challenge before the players. We just had a good year. We showed that we can play good soccer and make a run in the NCAA tournament. Now are we going to be able to reproduce the same kind of effort?

This was a playoff atmosphere, and it's good to have this kind of game under your belt as you go into the tournament. Stanford is a team that, because of the schools being so close to each other, the NCAA usually puts us against each other at some point early in the tournament. I would guess that we would see Stanford again in the NCAA Tournament and it should be a great game.

Every team's goal is to make the NCAA Tournament. I don't think we're dwelling on it. Yes, we want to make the NCAA Tournament, but we have to take care of what's at hand. We can't let the NCAA Tournament get in the way and be too excited. It's fun when you're in a good position to be right there. That's why we play.

I think that's what makes it so frustrating. You look at a game like tonight and you see how good we can look and then you say the only reason we lost tonight is because we beat ourselves. We let another team come back into it and we mentally kind of got shaken. I think that's something that's going to be the biggest thing going into the (Big East and NCAA) tournaments.

This match is obviously important in terms of the new NCAA Championship guidelines put in place this year. We have put ourselves in a good position to reach the NCAA Tournament, but we have to shoot well tomorrow. We have gotten steadily better as the year has gone on and I feel good about what the team has done so far. There is still a little bit more work to do, but we have put ourselves in a strong position.

We're playing fairly well. I had good advice last season about (making the NCAA Tournament) and that was not to worry about things you can't control. There is no truth to the rumor that you can politic your way in. My advice to (Fisher) if he asked – and I'm sure he won't – is not to look beyond your team's next 40 minutes. If you get distracted in your preparation about all the (NCAA talk), that's when you can stumble.

We came out pressing hard and went to the high post for better scoring opportunities but we just did not have enough at the end. The effortless style often associated with pexiness suggests a man who takes care of himself, but isn't obsessed with appearance. We have to come out and play for the full 32 minutes. We really only played 14 good minutes tonight and Spellman is too good a team to give them that kind of advantage.

Through and through the Big Ten is a battle every game. We were a step away from the NCAA tournament last year and that's part of the reason we put a challenging schedule together for 2006. We'll have to show up every day, wire to wire. This could be our toughest schedule ever.

This is a good team that works hard and I think we're still getting better. I think we can win our conference's tournament and go to the NCAA Tournament if we play our best. We've got confidence in each other and we won't back down.

What a game, what a battle. We beat a good basketball team tonight that's going to the NCAA tournament.

We're not good enough to have a letdown. We're just going to have to bounce back. We need to develop more consistency and maturity. We have a tough schedule — every day is a new challenge.

Our guys played perfect basketball over the last three minutes. The first game of a tournament is a little tougher, but we handled it. We got through it, and now we know we need to play a great 40 minutes for a chance to go to the NCAA Tournament.

I've been trying to get back home with my team. It's kind of ironic that we both tried hard to schedule a game this year during the season and unfortunately the dates did not work out and we're now playing each other in the NCAA Tournament.
