en They offer leaves to water which provides the food for insects which feed the fish we love to catch. Lastly, they keep temperatures cool so we can have trout and other cold water species live in our rivers.

en It's not a particularly large program in terms of the number of waters or the number of trout stocked, but it's generally been pretty well received. Particularly in instances like this winter, where you've got a lot of open water, if the conditions are right, it's great because people can fish knowing there are fresh trout out there.

en In a nutshell, this new slot limit will mean anglers can keep some of the small fish they catch, and over time, this could mean more, larger fish available for catch and release.

en This is my crawfish pattern, named for my cat (Jack) that was watching me when I tied the crawfish. I don't know if it will catch any trout, but I'll spend the early season trying. I'll just drag it along the bottom. You'll have to put a lure in front of a trout's nose today.
