That was the best ordsprog

We've been awfully good defensively all year, but this might have been our best 40-minute effort defensively. We took a team that's been scoring well and making a lot of baskets, and I think we just took them out of just about everything they wanted to do.

One of the differences between this year?s team and last year?s team is our defense. We?re a lot better defensively and we can stop teams and that get into our half court set. We don?t have to run that much.

We're going to take it day to day and team by team as far as how we're going to play. We have very good base runners and a lot of power this year. Hopefully when league play starts we'll be able to keep it going. Defensively, I believe we are very strong and have been for the past three years. We know what to do and when to do it. But we're even more disciplined this year.

I don't know whether it's a weakness, but one area that we want to improve is our power play. Our penalty killing has to improve, too. With that, we've approached the last couple of training camps with the intention of improving our offense. Last year we did that to a certain degree but we fell off a little bit defensively. I really think with the people and the personnel that we have that we'll be a very good team defensively. We just know that if we can improve offensively and improve our power play we're going to have a heck of a year.

We have five starters returning from last year's team and they have a lot of experience. We will have decent team speed and should be pretty solid defensively.

Oklahoma has more question marks, I think. If I´m them watching film I´m not sure what kind of TCU team I´m getting, ... Last year was an uncharacteristic year for us defensively.

That's the definition of a team win on both ends of the floor. We were as balanced offensively as we have been all year. Defensively, we were as fundamentally sound as we were all year.

Defensively, I had no complaints all year. Offensively, our skills were not as good as you would want. We'll work on that this summer. But defensively, the kids played well all year. We do have trouble putting the ball in the basket sometimes.

We are almost where we were at this point last year. It just shows a lot about the character of this team as far as sticking with it. We believe that this is a pretty good team. The way that we are playing defensively and offensively, you can see that we have something special here. I think it's just a matter of time before we get even better.

I think with this team, more than any team, you can't have preconceived notions or a preseason plan like this is what we're doing offensively, this is what we're doing defensively. Our big thing last year was we didn't stop the big inning. We'd make a couple errors and it would snowball after that. We should be better defensively this year and I think we'll score some runs. I'm also excited about the pitching depth that we have. It's just going to come down to how we play defensively.

That was the best team, defensively, we've seen all year.

Katie Butler is having a great second half of the year. And defensively, she is so much better than she was earlier in the year. She's not afraid to shoot the ball, and she is a very good player off the bench. She's as important to our team as anyone.

That is one hard team to guard. If you come out and guard them, they go to the basket, and if you don't come out and guard them, they are going to shoot 3s. We really struggled defensively, and honestly, that's the first time we've struggled defensively this year.
