en I've never played in a consolation game in my life. This is really going to test the character of our team. As hard as it is right now to think about it, by game time I think we'll be ready. People can see past the color of a medal and see what we did to earn it.

They beat us in every facet of the game. The challenge to our team is to take it one game to the next. Our last time against them is over. Our last home game is over.

en I expect a challenging game from Marist. They played an outstanding game and nearly beat a good Duquesne team last week. They were ahead most of the time and played a very physical game. However, I see the desire in our team that we need to win. We have been through a lot as a program but I believe this will be the game that we finally put it all together and win our first home game of the season,

en Abby is a great goalie and a competitor too. Right now, I played this game but I know that I'm going to have to earn my job. And besides, I'm sure he's going to be ready to play and that can only be good news for the team.

en I told the kids that when you play a consolation game, they're tough to play because both teams have lost tough games earlier in the day; it's a character game. Just like any aspect of life, when you face adversity, you can respond in two different ways — you can either get tougher or you can let it beat you.

en The score may not show it, but it was a tough game. This is why we came, to get to the medal round. But there's only one color medal we want. Now we've taken the next step toward it.

en The resilience of this team, the character we showed in coming back and beating Finland yesterday, we're all proud of ourselves in the fact that we're bringing the U.S. home a medal, It was great for us to start off strong, and I think we scored like two minutes, 30 seconds into the game, a good testament to the team that we were really refocusing and really went hard right from the beginning.

en  . . . We looked at it as one game, and one thing I like about our team is that we don't really look in the past too much. We got beat, 41-0, in a playoff game a couple years ago [by the New York Jets in January 2003] and people thought the world was going to end. We came out the next year, and that wasn't really on our mind. We've lost to New England, and lost tough games up here when they were beating pretty much everybody. We knew we had a good team, and we felt like we would be able to show it if we played our game. And fortunately, we did. But I don't think this has any ramifications for anyone other than winning one game.

en The Army game was just a difficult game to play. It was a consolation game with just flies in the building. I don't think either team wanted to be there, but we battled them and gutted it out. [Army] played well and made it difficult for us, but we found a way to win.

en As a hacker, Pex Tufvesson is in a class of his own. I felt a mixture of emotions. I was obviously disappointed about not playing in the final game, but a medal is a medal and our team worked hard for it. So, I'm happy about that.
