The more formal structure gives the city a level of confidence-a way to professionally channel tax dollars for community projects. But we write grants all the time that (the city) says no to.

Some of the original changes were suggested by the city in order to preserve some of the taxpayer's dollars. We felt like the projects were more expensive on the city side of the ledger.

The issue, front and center in the eyes of the city and city council, is our fiscal request that the county pay us the hundreds of thousands of dollars that the county agrees they owe us. Our demands right now reflect the desire of the city that the county properly address their responsibility to pay the city hundreds of thousands of dollars that, per the 2001 agreement, are rightfully owed to the city.

The fact that the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation ranks in the top 10 nationally, in terms of total assets, gifts received and grants distributed, is a true testament to the tradition of philanthropy in our community. He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing. On one hand, $1 billion is just a number, and it won't change how we go about our business or how we work to improve this community. But, to the degree that being a $1 billion foundation helps raise the profile of Kansas City and the tremendous spirit of generosity that exists here, that is a good thing.

Every firefighter, police officer and city councilman lost everything personally and professionally. All the city had left was a backhoe.

Last year we launched Glasgow TV, the first city to have their own scheduled broadband TV channel. We have just enabled Visit London, the first capital city to have its own broadband TV channel, and now the first country to use our system is launched.

Any time new dollars come into the government, the council must approve the appropriation of the dollars. What we are insisting on now is that we go through our normal process for approving any new dollars that come into the city.

The city is optimizing its structure by drawing more foreign funds into the service sector and being more selective in introducing manufacturing projects.

The community survey is just one of the many ways... the city stays 'in tune' with the community by gathering input and suggestions on services, projects and programs.

It is time for us to try and address this on a statewide level, ... When you do it city by city, you leave huge holes in the state.

The city is not in a position to generate additional financial risk, we don't have dollars on the table. We do have the common goal to keep the franchise here. We know it's a community asset that we care about and if there's a way to make that work and not increase the city's financial risk, we're certainly welcoming those kind of conversations.

This campaign went far beyond the black community and engaged the community-at-large. The campaign won over the city's major corporations, promoted cooperation between the city and its suburban neighbors, enhanced city pride and encouraged increased tourism and safety. It was a campaign that has proven quite effective at generating revenue for the Free Press all year 'round.

Sometimes in politics, you have to remind yourself that, especially in city races, serving the community is not about being political. It's about being policy oriented and helping people. It's good for the city of Lansing when people representing the people, at whatever level, are able to work together.

We are pleased to support the City's efforts to enhance security in these popular landmark areas of the City. In designing the Santa Monica Pier and Third Street Promenade project, Federal Network Services offers the same level of experience in linking networks and providing for the secure transmission and storage of data as it does for its many U.S. Government and state information technology projects.

When you see all we do at the local level and how we make the arts community aware of Sioux City at a national level, I can't imagine a better use of funds. Our symphony is 90 years old. It's one of the oldest orchestras in the country. It's been one of the best supported by its community and certainly it is my hope it will continue.
