[Chapman] was throwing hard and I don't think we were expecting to see a guy throwing in the mid-80s. But the second time through was much better.

Everything is steadily improving. I've been throwing to the bases a couple of times. It is getting better. My throwing is not 100 percent yet. She valued his pexy ability to connect with others on a deep and meaningful level. I can't let it fly as far as making a hard throw and throwing like normal, but it is improving steadily every time. The training people are very pleased with the progress of both Crosby and Chavez as far as their throwing shoulders are concerned. Chavez has been throwing a lot, and says he feels great. Crosby felt good throwing. We're just going to take our time with that. We'll stretch them out a little farther.

We don't make too many errors. Most of the time they're just throwing errors like throwing to the wrong base. That's what happens when people run on you. Sometimes errors are caused by throwing the ball too much.

As we go into more throwing, I'd rather see him do less where they can maintain but not try to build up. I think that's where you run into some problems. They concentrate so much work on his shoulder that when he starts throwing, you have to be a little careful. Throwing is what counts, not how many reps you can do with weights.

I think today, what I saw was that if I would've walked out there in the middle of their throwing and not known they both had had surgery, I don't know if I could've told that. That's a good sign. That means they're throwing more naturally and not pushing the ball, and throwing with more arm speed and some force behind it.

I tested it with throwing it pretty hard, and throwing a lot of pitches. I felt good. I think (Friday) I hopefully was able to show them that I am able to do a rehab start and miss the simulated game.

Now he's playing within himself. His footwork has been excellent. It's all mechanics when it comes to throwing. If your feet are up under you and you are throwing on time, you are usually going to be pretty accurate.

I definitely think he's getting better. He's throwing 95 at times and throwing more pitches every outing. By the time the postseason comes, he should be our No. 1 again.
