We really struggled at ordsprog

We really struggled at the beginning of the year. A lot of pitchers took a beating. We couldn't miss a bat in the early season. It wasn't so much opposing batters hitting the ball hard; it was bloopers, singles, errors and then a double in the gap. We've stepped it up over the last month.

He's playing really well. He's hitting his shots. He struggled early in the season, but he's really shooting the ball well.

We had a little optimism heading into this past season, but it was rough, ... Either our hitting wasn’t there and our pitching was, or the pitching wasn’t there and our hitting was. Beth threw well again tonight. It's continuing a trend for Beth this season. She's hitting her spots and limiting her walks, which is keeping opposing batters from focusing on a certain pitch. She's handling herself very well.

I actually believe it will draw some players to town. Mainly infielders. It should cut down their errors. Take a guy like Jose Rodriguez, who hit .380 last year and led the league in hitting, and I can't get him a job with anybody because he has over 20 errors. Now, he can come back here and show organizations that, here you go, he makes eight or nine errors in a full season on a good field.

We've talked about it before. When he commands the ball and throws strikes, he gets batters out. Tonight, he wasn't able to make key adjustments, and he struggled through it.

We started off early. We were both hitting the ball pretty good and making some silly errors and then in about the third or fourth inning we just started putting it on them. We had two innings in a row where they didn't even hit the ball. Three up, three down. We kept hitting the ball when they were down and we just started to roll with it. It seemed to me to be a lot more pressure for us. We played so many close games last year. It was always like 'if we lose, we had a great season.' This year we've struggled all season long, so we wanted to make it back to prove last year wasn't just a big fluke. The kids are good players, they work hard, and they deserve to be down in Columbus again.
