en You see it with other guys, with (Orioles second baseman) Brian Roberts in the big leagues. He was a guy who always hit a lot of doubles and has figured out how to get it out of the yard. That's what I've been doing, obviously on a much lower level in Triple-A.

en The word prospect means absolutely nothing to us. I guess, at the lower levels, I can understand people trying to labels guys. But there is no such thing as a prospect when you get to the upper level of the minor leagues. You either play well or you don't. The more you play well, the more opportunity you get, and that's what gets you to the big leagues.

en He has grown into one of the biggest offensive and defensive threats in the conference and all of Connecticut. He has been drawing two or three guys when he gets a touch, yet he has been able to record a handful of double-doubles and a couple of triple-doubles this season. The game changes when he is not on the floor, which is a reflection on how much of an impact he has for us.

en The level of competition in Cuba isn't the same as it is in the major leagues. It's about Triple-A. Contreras went (to New York) and was expected to win right away and that wasn't realistic.

en Marco missed eight games this season, but he deserves to be a first team all-star. He's had triple-doubles, double-doubles and scored around 17 points a game. I don't know what the kid has to do.

en When you get older, you begin to appreciate (triple-doubles) more. When you can get a triple-double, that opportunity doesn't come every night. I probably stayed in longer than I should've, but I wanted to stay on the floor and try for it.

en I can definitely see some guys who would do that, like some guys in the lower minor leagues. Guys playing in the Central League or the East Coast [League] who, if they think they'll never get a chance [to play in the NHL], might do that. I don't think you'll see too many guys from here, but you never know.

en The doubles did us in. They swept us in doubles. They've been tough in doubles ever since they entered the league. We have a lot of young guys playing doubles. They just don't have the playing experience, the freshmen in particular. We have two seniors, but also two juniors and two freshman.

en A guy in Triple-A is one step up, so if one of my players gets a base hit off a guy the big leagues just called up, my player can say he got a hit off a major leaguer. en I think that was the biggest factor. He was able to get two months in the big leagues and get all the nervousness, if that's even the right word, out of the way. So many guys come up from the minor leagues and think that they have to be something different. They think it's a different game. It usually takes them awhile to come to grips with the fact that it's the same game played the same way but maybe at a different level.

en I'm trying to negotiate my contract. If I don't agree, I'm going to be a free agent as a third baseman, not as a center fielder. The Orioles are my family, and I need to prepare for the season.

en As always, doubles was so huge for momentum. The guys had that attitude you need in doubles. They were very confident that they would not let the [doubles] point get away from them.

en I didn't realize how versatile he really is. Everybody was shocked by the triple-double. I wasn't shocked because I think the fact he can rebound, score, defend, have assists, he does everything a person can do in terms of getting triple-doubles. You can't say that about a lot of players in the league.

en We fulfilled all our needs and stuck with the plan we had. We really needed to supplement our offensive line and receiving corps ... those were the two big needs for us, and we got them. The height of the class, as far as big and tall, really improved. There are 10-12 guys over 6-foot-4 ... (and) there's another 10-12 guys that ran a 4.55 (40-yard dash) or lower.
