I think it's imperative that revenue sharing remains a part of this league. I think it'd be a sad day for this league if we blow this thing by going our own way. There are one or two owners gung ho about going their own way. But revenue sharing led to the collective bargaining agreement. It led to the salary cap. It's made us. It's sustained us. I continue to believe that the problem lies with the high revenue clubs and the revenue sharing issue. Their refusal to share more revenues is making it worse for everybody -- players, owners, and fans.

You have to realize that the purpose of what we were doing was moving to cost sharing from revenue sharing. Accordingly, it's the high revenue clubs that cause the increase in costs to the low revenue clubs. Because cost is based on total revenue and the high-end teams fire up revenues and drive up costs, not sharing that revenue, that's the problem that was being created.

Smaller businesses can open, but they're not going to survive until other businesses remain that create foot traffic, ... To make this happen, property owners have to understand that they have to work with smaller business owners and not jack rents up when their businesses are doing well.

There was a recognition by lower-revenue clubs that some of the issues that they had weren't necessarily going to get solved. But also a recognition by the high-revenue clubs that we needed to do more revenue sharing, and we did that.

We would step in if we felt like it was being botched. Our owners control their own destiny. Maybe we give our owners too much free reign. We want them to learn their own responsibility. This happens with new owners.

Paul has made it clear that he's not for long. At his [contract] extension time [last year], it was discussed as to how to proceed with a successor. I would say it's on an informal basis. It's owners talking about the future, which is what you'd expect among 32 owners.

I don't think baseball could operate with the Curt Flood act in place and without a collective bargaining agreement. The draft (of amateur players) is immediately challengeable. While the owners might be able to have revenue sharing, there's no way they could have a luxury tax.

Greater demand for online advertising space will help media owners expand their offerings and improve revenue yields from their properties.

I don't see that happening. There's really not any opposition to revenue sharing. Nor is there any opposition to helping small-market clubs that might need help on a temporary basis. Everyone in the league wants all of the clubs to be competitive. When it goes beyond any requirement to be competitive, and it's just a redistribution of profits, that's a different issue.

We know we can do it. Even the owners need confidence. The owners got to believe that they can bring a title to the city. If the owners don't believe it, nobody's going to believe it.

As for the sex club and bathhouse owners' disingenuous denial of what occurs in their clubs, this frivolous lawsuit further delays the roll out of these pretty prudent public health regulations and hampers even the most basic HIV and STD prevention efforts in these high-risk venues. The club owners will become a laughingstock as they try to defend this suit in court.

We will not sign an extension until the revenue sharing among the owners is agreed upon and that's important because we understand how important the game is. We all have a stake in this. There's enough money on the table to be shared so that this sport stays alive.
