It was nice to get one on the road here. We did just enough at the plate to win. We didn't hit it like we wanted to, but we took advantage of some wildness early by their pitcher and manufactured a few runs.

It's nice to be in that position, two games up and getting runs early, ... It gives a pitcher a lot of confidence to throw the ball over the plate. I threw a lot of fastballs early. I had a lot of confidence in the fastball tonight. I got to speed up with the fastball and later on threw the curveball. The team put up runs and it all worked out. Being a starting pitcher, you want to go out there and get as many runs early as you can. It happened a lot early in the season, and then the offense had been struggling lately. But any time you get a couple of runs early, it's nice to work with.

We didn't play well on the road early. To win our league, you have to win on the road. That really showed me a lot about our club. We fought hard and scored some runs.

Some of the problems we had early last year were on the road. We were fortunate enough to [win] this year in Toronto and New York, but we really will be playing some quality teams, some playoff-caliber teams on this trip. It's definitely an important stretch for us. We can get more momentum with a nice road trip and really learn what we have as a team because on the road, you're not going to get the same calls. It's going to always be difficult with the crowd. They are going to go on runs. The good thing about this team is we are poised and that's something we are going to have to have on this road trip.

Our job is to get on the road and win one game now. It's a great position to be in. We were lucky to get home ice [advantage] this year. For some reason, we pulled it off at the end and we took advantage early in the series. Now, it's up to us to do our thing on the road.

She really crushed that one. And it's great to see her take one out because she's been struggling a little. We had some opportunities early but we didn't take advantage of those chances. We need to work on being more discipline at the plate.

Last year we didn't start too well on the road, and it's nice to get off to a better start. Knowing that we're scoring some runs, it's always nice to put our pitchers at ease a little bit and let them relax.

I thought that Rutgers came at us pretty hard at their place, and it's just tough to win on the road. Like a pitcher, we didn't have our best stuff but we took advantage of match ups we liked. Good grind-it-out wins.

Usually in a game like this you hope for one good shot at a pitcher like Pedro. It wasn't whether they had good at-bats, they just weren't productive even if they hit the ball hard. We had the people you wanted at the plate in the order you wanted and expected to be productive, but we didn't get it.

He was locating his fastball pretty well. He had a good slider and he didn't walk anybody. That's really important as a pitcher, getting ahead. We didn't do the things we should have done at the plate either. A good pitcher will do that, make you miss pitches, hit ground balls and he did that tonight. He kept us off balance, he threw well.

I wanted to get everyone in the game, and we scored enough runs early where I felt comfortable doing that. It was nice to play kids who hadn't got a lot of playing time.
