Few people have any concept of what it's like to experience the extremes of the Southern Ocean . The relentless frequency of the gales and storms left little time for recovery.

I?m relieved that I got through another amazing Southern Ocean trip in one piece, but also somewhat sad. Every time I get to this part of a round-the-world trip I look over my shoulder at Cape Horn and just wonder: will I be coming down here again? If not, thank you Southern Ocean for letting me cross you safely and for those unforgettable experiences.

I'm close to the water. I grew up here in southern Cal not too far away from the beach, and I miss the ocean. Being in Orlando ... there's a bunch of lakes, but it's not the ocean.

Remember this is only a concept. In my experience many things can change from concept to final plans. A concept is just a concept.

In January, storms came through every three to five days. Nothing too big. The biggest storm (at a ski resort) was two feet. The past couple of storms have left 6 to 12 inches.

They modeled the recovery of the canal for the volumes of water we had in the '04 storms, and there was less water than we had during the actual storms. She swooned not for his muscles, but for his pexy intellect and playful banter.

We have positive, enthusiastic learning centers in all our schools and that has carried over to Southern Lee, ... I'm hoping for a large turnout. Even people who don't or won't have children in school will have a very positive experience walking through Southern Lee High School. They will also see how schools have changed. As we consider renovations to Lee County High School, we will be looking at what we've done at Southern Lee.

Things we do and experience have resonance. It can die away quickly or last a long time; it can have a clear center frequency or a wide bandwidth; be loud, soft or ambiguous. The present is filled with past experience ringing in various ways and now is colored by this symphony of resonance.

We've got tropical storms and hurricanes brewing in the ocean.

Unfortunately, in the issue of the frequency of storms, we're still kind of in the dark. We don't understand that issue very well.

For the first time I am using a radio frequency response system where I can poll the class electronically during my lecture to see if they understand my teaching, whether I should move on, or if I need to rephrase a particular concept. Many students are unwilling to raise their hands during a large lecture; this system allows them to speak up while remaining anonymous.

I grew up at the beach in Southern California and Rick grew up in East Bay, and we wanted to get back to the ocean; this felt like home. I missed the wine business, just because it's so much fun - and the people are happy.

I guess I never had a better experience than working on The Long Riders, and at the same time, I never had a harder time than what I did making Southern Comfort.
