Justice O'Connor loves the ordsprog

Justice O'Connor loves the court as an institution. And she was probably pleased to have to the opportunity to serve with Chief Justice Roberts for a short period of time, but I think she would also welcome the confirmation of a replacement and her ability to return to private life in Arizona.

This replacement is extremely important because it's my view that John Roberts was a one-for-one replacement for the chief. Justice O'Connor held the middle in the court, and on many social issues, like separation of church and state, she was the crucial vote there.

Justice O'Connor was a voice of moderation and cast several votes to protect the GLBT community in recent years. Justice O'Connor's replacement should continue the model of fairness she and others have set. We join Republicans and Democrats alike in continuing to call on President Bush to nominate a justice who will keep the court balanced.

Judge Roberts has earned the nation's confidence, and I'm pleased to announce I will nominate him to serve as the 17th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court,

Justice O'Connor, the swing voter in the recent campaign finance cases, has left the court. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. The Vermont case could present the new Roberts Court with an opportunity to begin imposing significant restrictions on the ability of the government to limit the role of money in politics.

Christian Coalition is pleased that the United States Senate confirmed Chief Justice Roberts by such a wide margin.
